    I am shocked that a 20 on anything except the LF will survive 100 laps.

    If I remember correctly the year Pierce won the World they ran 20’s on all 4 with no grooving or siping. Don’t remember the circumstances that warranted that rule.

    That was the failed attempt at making tires honest that year I believe…..after the whole , everyone cheated and got suspended for tires debacle.

    Scott,

    I was thinking they allowed a rr 40, but you may be correct.

    Those 20s get hot and greasy and quit gripping. That's how they survive.

    We are still stuck with the 20s, to this day. I don't think the rule accomplished anything aside from making Dennis Erb cross the line second instead of first.
