Rod and R.J. Conley Both Show Speed During River Days Rumble at PRP

(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) Brothers Rod and R.J. Conley represented Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) on Saturday evening, September 4 at the nearby Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series invaded PRP to sanction the annual running of the 'River Days Rumble' and 29 competitors were in the pit area to vie for the $15,000 winner's check. R.J. grabbed the third transfer spot through his loaded heat race and later started the 50-lap main event from the outside of the sixth row. The Wheelersburg, Ohio ace then vaulted up inside of the top five during the contest, but unfortunately drew a caution flag on lap 35 due to a broken left rear rim. R.J. was officially relegated to a twelfth place effort in this year's edition of the 'River Days Rumble.'

Rod, on the other hand, ran sixth in his heat race prior to placing fifth in the B-Main. The veteran driver of the #71r then rolled off from the inside of the eleventh row in the 50-lapper and blitzed all the way up to fifth at one point in the race. Even though he suffered drivetrain problems on the final circuit, "Hot Rod" was still able to record a respectable ninth place performance against the national touring stars. All three CMI drivers – Delmas, Rod, and R.J. Conley – are slated to enjoy the upcoming September 10-11 weekend away from the racetrack. There is a high probability that all three will return to racing action the following weekend (September 17-18), but no plans are currently set in stone at this time.
