Jimmy Mars Captures Second Career WISSOTA 100 Title for $10,000; Red Cedar Next!

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) National Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer Jimmy Mars racked up his seventh victory of the 2021 campaign in the annual running of the 'WISSOTA 100' from September 16-18 at I-94 Sure Step Speedway in Fergus Falls, Minnesota! Behind the wheel of his potent #28 MB Customs Late Model, Jimmy won his heat race before advancing to a strong runner-up performance in Thursday's prelim feature behind only race winner Cole Searing. On Saturday evening in the 50-lap headliner, Jimmy started sixth on the feature grid, grabbed the point on the sixth circuit, and drove to his second career 'WISSOTA 100' title. The Menomonie, Wisconsin star beat Dave Mass, his son Sam Mars, Cole Searing, and Jordan Tollakson to the checkered flag to claim the $10,000 top prize!

In Open Wheel Modified action during the fabled 'WISSOTA 100' weekend. Jimmy won his heat race on Thursday night before securing a triumph in his preliminary feature event. He then started third on the grid in the 40-lap main event on Saturday and led some laps early in the distance before some minor motor issues caused him to slip back to sixth by the end of the $6,000 to win contest. Full results from the entire week at I-94 Speedway can be accessed online at www.i94speedways.com.

“It was a lot of fun to race in the WISSOTA 100 again,” quoted Mars this week via telephone. “Sam (Mars) wanted to race over there and I haven’t gone racing with him as much as I probably should have this year. It was a good weekend for the both of us and we’ve been working hard this week at the shop to gear up for the Punky Manor. That’s always a special race for myself and a lot of our sponsors from around the area, so hopefully we can compete for another win this weekend!”

The ‘WISSOTA 100’ triumph gives Mars Racing added momentum heading into one of their biggest races of the year – the 41st Annual ‘Punky Manor Challenge of Champions’ at their hometown Red Cedar Speedway on September 24-25. Jimmy once again plans on unloading both his Late Model and his Modified at the Menomonie, Wisconsin oval this weekend. A $4,000 winner’s check will be on the line for the WISSOTA Late Models, while a $2,000 payday will be up for grabs in the WISSOTA Modified division. Jimmy is a multi-time race winner in each class and will be looking to add another victory (or two) to his impressive career resume.
