Super Late Model competitors please note the tire rule for the event. Hoosier 1350, Hoosier 1600, American Racer SD-48, and American Racer MD-56 tires are allowed on all four corners. Racers must run the same four tires for qualifying, heat races, and b-main action. For the 50-lap feature only, a driver may change one tire of their choice.

Are these American Racer compounds and Hoosier pretty comparable or is there an advantage to one over the other?

How would officials know if you changed a tire for a heat race or changed 2 for feature ?
Why would a track care...is this a common rule now at alot of dirt tracks.
Is it about cutting tire cost..?
Been wanting to go to 411 and also I 75... Tenn has alot of great race tracks.

^^^ When you go out to qualify (or around then), they mark the outside of your tires with paint. No paint = the tire wasn't on the car then. It's meant to cut down on tire costs, and it usually isn't a track rule, it's a series rule (many are doing it as of late).

Yes it's common in tour races. Because they are usually marked with a piece of chalk or a marker of some sort distinguishing the tire on the car from a tire not on the car.

LM1 yes they are equivalents compound wise. This is the common rule for Ray Cook's Southern Nationals and the ULTIMATE Series which races in the SE Region.

As others remarked the tires are marked at qualifying. All 4 must have the stamp at each phase of the event except for the feature when 3 of the 4 must have the stamp. This is an effort to A. Limit consumption during a significant tire shortage and B. Reduce tire related costs.

We also mark tires at 411 for our regular shows. Four tires plus a spare that helps save on cost, and with the tire shortage, it's certainly a necessity right now.
