Rod Conley Nabs Top Five in Racefest World Championship Finale; DTWC Next for CMI

(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) Wheelersburg, Ohio ace Rod Conley and his #71r team invaded West Virginia Motor Speedway in Mineral Wells, West Virginia on October 9-10 for the 'Racefest World Championship' weekend, which was co-sanctioned by the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series and the Zimmer's United Late Model Series. On Saturday evening in the $5,000 to win weekend opener, Rod placed fifth in his stacked heat race, but motor issues during the 25-lap feature forced him to retire early in the sixteenth position.

At the sprawling 5/8-mile speedplant on Sunday in the finale, which boasted a hefty $15,000 top prize, Rod ran third in his heat race and later started the 35-lapper from the inside of the third row. "Hot Rod" then climbed to as high as third in the running order with his back-up car before slipping back to fifth at the checkers to finish behind only victor Devin Moran, Max Blair, Colten Burdette, and Michael Chilton! Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) will look to defend their home turf in the biggest race of their season this weekend (October 15-16), as Portsmouth Raceway Park hosts the 41st Annual ‘Dirt Track World Championship.’ Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series qualifying and heat races at PRP are slated for later this evening, while the consolation events and the 100-lap DTWC are scheduled for Saturday night.

For the seventh year in a row, the Carl Short-promoted crown jewel event will shell out a whopping $100,000 winner’s check. For those drivers unable to crack the starting grid, a $3,000 to win Non-Qualifiers Race – known as the Jim Dunn Memorial – will also be held on Saturday at the 3/8-mile clay oval. Both Rod and R.J. Conley will be in competition all weekend long at the nearby Portsmouth, Ohio oval. More information on the lucrative DTWC weekend can be found online by clicking on www.lucasdirt.com.
