Thread: Cochran

    Default Cochran

I'm headed to Cochran for the $21,000 to win. Anybody else going? I went two years ago and left before the late model feature. I really didn't feel like watching the sunrise. I guess I just don't learn my lessons. I know, might as well cut the check to Overton. Other than the eight who have already committed, who else is gonna show?

Some races that aren’t WoO, Lucas, XR or Flo are going to struggle in 2022. Between those 4 series a team can pretty much fill up their schedules and not run events like this. With the biggest season in the history of the sport on deck I’m not surprised this event only got 14 cars.

Exactly Tireguy17. With all the high paying races coming up next year and the good payouts, races like this and Milton last week are going to struggle to get cars..

Seems like this is an opportunity for teams with lesser accomplishments to travel a little more and get some experience and cash without concern over making the race. I expect the market will adjust and these races might draw fuller fields in the future. These races pay to start what some teams would earn for second place in a weekly show. Even llm or crates can fill these fields.

This is really a one day show. $20.00 for Friday, and $30.00 for Saturday is ridiculous.

    Dont go!

I agree with Tireguy17. Just because you are paying 21k does not mean anything anymore. This is the new normal. 20k will slowly become what 5k to win shows were just a couple years ago. Fans are going to end up paying the bills of these big shows. $80 to go to Eldora Million just to see another race at Eldora. No thanks I will just watch it on Flo. Soon $75 to $100 will become the normal spectator price as well. Money always ruins most good things in life.

When a ticket price gets up over 50 most casual fans pick and choose what race there going to. Eldora has diehard fans that will pay it for the dream and the world.

Isn't it nice we can choose to go or watch it on Flo or next day Dirt on Dirt. We should be looking at it this way. Wasn't too many years ago you either went or only read about it.

Lets not get spoiled and enjoy your options

Usually Flo has it on their YouTube channel not long after the event. Some events you can watch qualifying and heat races live and then the feature is posted not long after it's over.

This race used to be for crates and drew 50 plus cars every year! Not enough supers in the deep south and bad timing as well!

Now that the owners son is in a super, makes me wonder!

Crates are also racing for 7500 to win in Swainsboro IIRC.

11 late models to start for $21,000.......pathetic!!! I knew I should have gone to 411. Lesson learned.

Isn't Pierce McCarter the kid of the owner of Cochran? He was at 411.
