    Default RIP Senator Dole

Bob Dole passed away over this weekend. Mr. Dole was one of the last truly honorable man to hold a major office. Had he won the presidential election over the rapist in chief I believe the honor of the office would have been extended for at least another 4 years and likely 8 more. There hasn't been as good of a politician or human being elected President since Senator Dole ran for president.

Had we all known the sort of scumbag the rapist in chief really was it's a certainty that Senator Dole would have won and that would have been a very good thing for our country.

Rest in peace Senator Dole. You were a fine person and an honorable public servant!

Bob Dole was a great and honorable American on many levels. His battle injuries were very significant and kept him hospitalized for some 39 months! His life in politics was marked with civility but stern conviction for what he believed in. Bob and Libby Dole were known as very nice and classy people who carried themselves with dignity everywhere they went.

After Bob Dole left political life he worked very hard as a fundraiser for the World War II memorial project. In the years that followed he would often be at the memorial site in person and just make himself available to meet with visiting veterans. Bob Dole lead a life guided by some very genuine beliefs and not the focus group tested phoniness of today's crowd.

Bob Dole was also known for his wit and a great sense of humor. Norm MacDonald had a thing going on SNL where he would play Bob Dole. The two did meet and became friends and both had a genuine like for each other.

A couple years ago when the Kansas City Chiefs were in the Super Bowl a camera focused on Bob Dole who was very frail, pushing himself upright from his wheelchair to stand for the National Anthem. In a time when primadonna millionaire spoiled players choose to kneel in protest, Bob Dole ushered his strength to show his true patriotism. He was the real hero to me that day. Rest in blessed peace Bob Dole.

Yeah, to think that a good man like that lost to Slick Willy but at the time the scandals hadn't really hit and the dot com economy was booming so it wasn't an easy race for Dole. Ross Perot actually played the spoiler twice, both in 92 (to a larger degree) and 96. Thanks Ross.
Political correctness,...is the inability to speak the truth about the obvious.

I forgot about Perot. Good point, ff. It's still debated both ways as to whether or not George H.W. Bush and/or Bob Dole would have beaten the rapist without Perot's candidacy siphoning votes away from both Republican candidates. Exit polling indicated that Perot siphoned as many votes from the rapist as he did Senator Dole. You very well could be correct in your assessment that Dole would have won back in 1996 but sadly, we'll never know for sure.

Morgs is also correct that the rapes perpetrated by the rapist in chief had not come to light at that time thus not making the rapist unelectable, as he should have been. Why the rapes weren't part of the '92 and '96 Presidential campaigns is pure speculation but someone besides the victims themselves knew of what had gone on. The media was just as biased back then as they are now but it was not as blatantly visible as it is, and has been for the past couple of decades.
