(March 1, 2022) LaSalle, IL – The officials of the Mars Racing Series are excited to announce a points fund for the 2022 season. The already exciting 23rd year of the Mars Racing Series just got even bigger! There will be a possibility for the points champion to take home $20,000 at the drop of the last checkered flag in October. The Mars Racing Series will reward the top 5 points finisher at the end of the year with a check for their efforts.

Since taking over the series in 2020 series owner Tony Izzo Jr. has wanted to put together a campaign with lucrative paydays for drivers with an opportunity to bring home some bank at the end of the season as well. “It was the next step for us as a series to put together the points fund to reward the drivers that support our series all year long. I am excited for this season and feel satisfied with where we are headed this year,” states Tony Izzo Jr.

“The last two years has been about getting our footing, learning what works and what don’t. The thing we heard the most from teams was we need a point fund. I am excited to see the drivers have more of a reason to follow the series and get rewarded for their efforts,” said Series Director, Tyson Graves.

The season points fund will be based on how many events the series is able to get in throughout the year. The maximum the champion can take home is $20,000 if all 20 events are completed. There will be a chart on our website to show what a driver can take home at season end depending on the number of events completed. (Link HERE)

With the added point fund and over $170,000 in first place prize money on the line, a near $200,000 is up for grabs if a driver could win all 20 events and the points title. With big money on the line the top drivers in the Midwest will be making exciting racing action at each event. The series will also sport a Rookie of the year program in 2022. The top rookie of the series in 2022 will receive $2,500 plus products and second place finishing rookie will receive $1,500 plus products. The rookie drivers will have to compete in all series events to be eligible. Details on rookie eligibility will be released soon by series officials.

The series looks to kick off the 2022 season in a little over three weeks with 11th Annual Thaw Brawl presented by Hoker Trucking. The 2-day event at Davenport Speedway on March 25th and 26th will provide drivers with an opportunity to win $30,000 over the weekend.

A couple small tweaks to the schedule has been made as well. A July 23rd date at Spoon River Speedway has been added that will pay $3,000 to win. Also, the August 19th date at Outagamie Speedway has been dropped from the schedule due to scheduling conflicts. Also, the July 26th event at Davenport Speedway will be $10,000 to win. Here is the current 2022 schedule.
