The famous quarter miler in Chico, CA got their first night of the annual early season Silver Cup in last night. Iffy weather in the area raised doubt whether they would.

The 360 winged Sprints and Dwarf cars were the show. A couple of decades ago the Cup was a Late Model Sportsman deal and drew cars from 5 or so states but it has turned into a Sprinter deal over time. Our TriState ProStock Challenge group was on the card for this season but got dropped immediately when the new promotion team of Brad Sweet, Kyle Larson and Colby Copeland took over.

The joint is one of our favorite places and home track although our class there has been a staple for years and barely paid enough for a couple of pit passes if you ran up front. Several other teams we race with all over CA, NV and OR have wanted for years to come try Chico but back off when told what they paid. Hobby cars have several races there and will draw 25-30 cars weekly for really crummy purses. No shows for us on this year's schedule so we have no place to go on Fridays except a few 2 day shows far from our area.

Had a good field last night, track was fast with several 360s in the elevens, and Justin Sanders was the victor. Probably pick up a couple more cars tonight with the win worth $4,000. It's on Flo.
