Brandon Kinzer Starts 2022 Campaign on Fire; Sweeps Ponderosa and Wartburg Weekend!

(LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY) Brandon Kinzer and his #18 team kicked off their 2022 campaign in dominating fashion on April 15-16 with a pair of feature victories in the states of Kentucky and Tennessee! On Friday night at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Kentucky, Brandon laid down the quickest lap overall during Open Wheel Modified qualifying before starting the 20-lap main event from the pole position. He then led from flag-to-flag in the unsanctioned contest to land the $1,000 payday in his season lid lifter over a top five that consisted of runner-up Blake Brown, Chris Johnson, Ben Harmon, and Matthew Morris!

At Wartburg Speedway in Wartburg, Tennessee on Saturday evening, the Cumberland Plateau Open Wheel Racing Series rolled into town and a strong field of competitors were in the pit area. Brandon once again earned Fast Time honors during the qualifying session to earn the pole position for the 25-lap headliner. BK then led all but one circuit in the A-Main to capture the $1,200 top prize over Chris Wilson, Amos Bunch, Jeff Hamby, and Joe Freels! Complete results from both venues can be located online at www.ponderosaspeedway.net and www.wartburgspeedway.net.

“Man what a way to start off our year,” exclaimed Kinzer, who was coming off a six-win season in 2021. “Everyone associated with Kinzer Motorsports worked really hard over the off-season and it showed at Ponderosa and Wartburg. We were able to get some wins last year, but the amount of runner-up finishes we had was really pretty amazing. So we went to work and tried to find that extra little bit of speed. Our MB Customs car was phenomenal and I can’t thank my dad, Jimmy Cabral, and Jimmy Campbell enough for all of their hard work and dedication!”

Fresh off the season-opening triumphs, the Kinzer Motorsports team has opted to enjoy the upcoming April 22-23 weekend away from the racetrack. Brandon is slated to return to dirt-slinging action on April 29-30; however, as he will compete in a doubleheader at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia. The Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series will preside over the competition at the Chattanooga-area facility and a pair of $1,500 to win programs will be held next Friday and Saturday.
