Rod and R.J. Conley Both Grab Top Fives During Atomic 100; Independence 50 Next

(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) Both Rod and R.J. Conley ventured north to Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio on June 24-25 to compete in the annual running of the 'Atomic 100.' The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series sanctioned the two-day showdown, which kicked off on Friday night with a $5,000 to win program. R.J. placed third in his heat race and later climbed five spots during the course of the 30-lap feature distance to cross underneath the checkers in the fourth position behind only victor Devin Moran, Josh Rice, and Jacob Hawkins. Rod was not far behind, as he finished third in his heat race as well before advancing up to sixth in the A-Main.

At Atomic on Saturday evening, a $10,000 top prize was up for grabs in the 'Atomic 100' finale. Rod ran fifth in his loaded heat race, but later blitzed past eleven competitors during the 40-lap headliner en route to a sterling fourth place effort behind only winner Jacob Hawkins, Nick Bocook, and Jared Hawkins. R.J., on the other hand, won his heat race, but later developed a hole in his oil pan early in the main event and was forced to retire in the fourteenth spot. The Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) teams will compete on the national scene with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series over the Independence Day holiday weekend. Both Rod and R.J. Conley will be in the pit area on Friday, July 1 at the nearby Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio, as a $12,000 payday will be on the line tonight in the ‘Independence 50.’ “Hot Rod” will then travel alone to Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, Ohio on Saturday and Sunday, as the Elite Munitions ‘Freedom 60’ will feature triple 20s on Saturday paying $3,000 to win each before Sunday’s headliner shells out a whopping $30,000 windfall.
