Dennis Erb, Jr. Pockets $30k for Sweeping St. Louis Firecracker Faceoff; Slocum 50 Ahead!

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Current World of Outlaws Case Construction Late Model Series point leader Dennis Erb, Jr. swept the inaugural 'St. Louis Firecracker Faceoff' on June 24-25 at Federated Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri to pocket a total of $30,000 in earnings! On Friday night, Dennis earned Fast Time honors overall during the qualifying session before securing a heat race triumph. Dennis then grabbed the point on the twenty-eighth circuit and led the remainder of the 40-lap affair on his way to a $10,000 victory over Billy Moyer, Jr., Frank Heckenast, Jr., Jason Feger, and Brian Shirley. At the St. Louis-area oval on Saturday evening, Dennis once again won his heat race before leading laps 28-55 of the 55-lap headliner to bag a $20,000 windfall ahead of runner-up Bobby Pierce, Jason Feger, Shannon Babb, and Gordy Gundaker!

In other action over the extended weekend, the #28 team was in competition last Thursday in a $5,000 to win DIRTcar Summer Nationals showdown at Spoon River Speedway in Banner, Illinois. Dennis placed second in his heat race and had climbed inside of the top five early in the 40-lap feature distance before slipping to ninth in the final finishing order. In the weekend finale on Sunday at Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Illinois, the World of Outlaws Late Model Series presided over a $10,000 to win shootout. The Carpentersville, Illinois star grabbed the fifth transfer spot through his heat race prior to advancing up inside of the top ten during the 40-lapper to grab another ninth place performance. Complete results from each of these four races can be accessed online at www.woolms.com and www.dirtcarsummernationals.com.

“That place (Federated Raceway at I-55) is special to me and has always been good to us,” quoted Erb, Jr. this week. “I just had to be real patient there early in both of those features and things just kinda worked in our favor. My car would rotate real good around that bottom and I just had to keep hitting my marks. It’s been a great season so far this year and we are going to work hard to keep things rolling. I can’t thank Heather Lyne, J.R. McBride Leasing, McBride Mack, VoMac Truck Sales, Ideal Ready Mix, and all of our great sponsors enough for all of their support!”

After watching the weather and going back and forth on schedule plans for this weekend, it was finally decided recently that the Dennis Erb Racing team will compete in only one single event on Saturday, July 2. Dennis is set to vie for the $10,555 payday in the annual running of the ‘Slocum 50’ at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa. The Lucas Oil MLRA Series will preside over the contest, which shells out $750 just to start the main event.
