Just when they were finally getting a handle on those body rules. Oh well.

Good luck on the future endeavors to Mr and Mrs Francis.

Wait, Amanda is his wife? She's 29 years old and Steve is 54. I thought she was his daughter.

The national touring life is enough of a grind as a racer. I can’t imagine how much more of a grind being an official is.

I sense some sarcasm in that post.

Steve has too many friends in the industry side of the sport to make the difference that needs to made. Problem now is, they won't be able to find the right prick to take his place.

Just goes to show you, rulebooks are not all alike. Maybe he got tired of looking the other way.

Her profile on Lucas website says she will be 39 in October.

You armchair tech people are amazing. What proof do any of you have that the rules aren't being enforced? Which cars do you all think aren't legal?

I take it you've never watched tech? I've seen heat winners not even get a droop check this year.

This goes back years with your guys putting fat guys on the back to ride right before measurements are taken. This goes back to guys using the adjustable t bars and carrying tools right past tech to adjust after the measurements.

This goes back to why the bodies look like they do. Every little new thing that was illegal was ignored. Now, it a wedge car.

Personally-I think there might be more to this story. For him and Amanda to quit with 3 months left in the Lucas season- the must have a Decent “nest egg.”
The timing just seems strange and probably throws Lucas Oul a curveball??

Agree with fox, has to be more to this story. The bulk of the travel for the rest of the season is done, their next race is at Florence which is a home game for him. The rules are not being enforced, some of the bodies like JD are so egregious you can see they are illegal with the naked eye.

Every time I watched him break out that $5 Harbor Freight tape measure, I thought to myself, there’s no way he’s enjoying this job. This announcement is not even slightly surprising.

The timing, however, is odd. I would expect this type of announcement at the end of the season, not just as we hit big money time.

Yeah, he must have suddenly been hit awful hard by the "travel is tough" factor... I'd say there's way more to this. But, then again, there almost always is more to the story.

In the end its none of our business if there are other motives that made them quit in-season. Its never good but I'd guess it was planned during these 2 off weeks and his replacement has been in the works.

I can imagine it's currently an uphill battle to be a LM series tech official, the chassis builders have more influence on the rules than you do.
