Tonight’s Event at Boyd’s Speedway Washed Out; Tazewell Speedway Set to Conclude Southern Nationals Tour

(RINGGOLD, GEORGIA) Due to heavy rainfall overnight and the high threat of more throughout today, Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series and Boyd’s Speedway officials have been forced to cancel tonight’s $10,053 to win program at the Ringgold, Georgia oval. The penultimate event on the miniseries slate will not be rescheduled. However, series promoter Ray Cook looks forward to working with Boyd’s Speedway again in 2023 with both the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals and Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals tours.

With tonight’s washout, there is only one show left on the 2022 Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series calendar. The barnstorming Super Late Model tour will roll into the bad-fast Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, Tennessee on Saturday evening, July 30. A staple as the final points event since the series inception back in 2005, the “Taz” will shell out a $10,053 top prize tomorrow night. The pit gates will open at 3:00pm while the grandstands will start to allow patrons into the storied facility starting at 5:00pm. The Drivers Meeting is scheduled for 7:00pm and hot laps will commence at 7:30pm.

Joining the ground-pounding Super Late Models on the racing card at the high-banked Volunteer State venue will be the Sportsman ($800 to win), Street Stock ($600 to win), Classic Car ($600 to win), and 4-Cylinder ($500 to win) divisions. Adult grandstand admission will be $25.00, while children ages 9 and under will be admitted into the stands for FREE. Adult pit admission is set at $40.00 with kids 12 and under being allowed into the pit area for only $30.00.

Billy Ogle, Jr. ('05), Jimmy Owens ('06), Chris Madden ('07 & '08), Jimmy Owens ('09), Jonathan Davenport ('10), Vic Hill ('11), Chris Madden ('12), Jonathan Davenport ('13), Eric Jacobsen ('14), Vic Hill ('15), Scott Bloomquist ('16), Brandon Overton ('17 & '18), Dale McDowell ('19), David Payne ('20), Dakotah Knuckles ('20), and Michael Chilton ('21) have all secured Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series wins in the past at Tazewell.

Along with a $10,053 payday up for grabs in the ‘Ray Varner Ford 53,’ a series champion will also be crowned tomorrow night at Tazewell Speedway. Cory Hedgec0ck currently has a twelve point lead in the miniseries point standings over second place Will Roland, while Roland has already clinched Dirt Draft Rookie of the Year honors. Kenny Collins, Jensen Ford, and John Henderson round out the top five in the current series standings. Keep in mind that each driver will be able to drop their worst finish of the tour following tomorrow’s action at Tazewell.

The Super Late Model tire rule will be Hoosier 1350 and 1600 or American Racer 48 and 56 on the right front, left rear, and right rear, while the left front will be totally open. There will be no limit on the amount of tires you can use at Tazewell Speedway.

Body rules and the Droop Rule will be the same as those agreed on by both the World of Outlaws Late Model Series and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series - among many others. The entry fee will be $100.00 and transponders will be available to rent. Any driver not advancing into the 53-lap feature field will receive $75.00 in tow money. As has been the case during the last few years, ALL of the series events will be broadcast LIVE to subscribers of FloRacing!
