    Three-Day USMTS Swing Through Kansas and Missouri Up Next

    HAPPY, Tex. (08/02/22) – Rodney Sanders returned to his winning ways on Friday night in his Wichita Tank Racing No. 20 Kenny’s Tile/ ARMI Contractors/ MB Customs/ Hatfield Racing Engine Modified.

    Rodney topped the K-Town Clash at Mississippi Thunder Speedway to score the USRA Modified triumph, which marked his 10th win of the 2022 season.

    “It’s been a minute since we’ve picked up a win, so it was nice to go to Victory Lane at Mississippi Thunder (Speedway) on Friday night. We were close again on Saturday night at Deer Creek Speedway but came up a little short with a runner-up finish. All in all, it was a solid weekend for us as we prepare to return to USMTS competition this week,” Sanders said. “A huge shoutout and thank you to everyone, who keeps our team going.”

    Rodney Sanders returned to Mississippi Thunder Speedway (Fountain City, Wis.) on Friday afternoon to compete in the USRA Modified portion of the K-Town Clash.

    With a fourth-place finish in his heat race pinning him on the sixth row for the A-Main, Sanders marched through the field 11 spots to pick up his 10th win of the season. He took the checkers 1.109 seconds ahead of Lucas Schott with Jim Chisholm, Cory Crapser, and Keith Foss completing the Top-5 finishers.

    On Saturday evening at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minn.), Sanders followed up a sixth-to-second charge in his heat with a runner-up finish in the feature. He trailed Jim Chisholm to the checkers with Josh Angst rounding out the podium.

    The team returns to the USMTS grind this weekend – August 4-6 with a trek through Kansas and Missouri. On Thursday night the 11th annual Keep of the Plains Shootout posts a $5,000 winner’s check at 81 Speedway (Park City, Kan.) before the traveling contingent rolls into Humboldt (Kan.) Speedway on Friday night for the $7,000-to-win 16th annual USMTS Summer Fling. The tripleheader draws to a close on Saturday night at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.) with the $10,000-to-win Slick Mist Show-Me Shootout.

    Rodney is sixth in the latest USMTS standings.
