Shane Clanton Claims $20,000 Triumph in XR Super Series Action
Gondik Law Speedway Victory Marks Fourth of 2022 for Clanton

ZEBULON, Ga. (08/10/22) – Shane Clanton pushed his 2022-win total to four with a $20,000 triumph on Monday night at Wisconsin’s Gondik Law Speedway aboard his Skyline Motorsports No. 25 Bennett Explosives/ Super K Express/ Capital Race Cars / Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model.

Shane swept the night’s program in XR Super Series action.

"We didn’t have the weekend we wanted at Cedar Lake (Speedway), so this was a big shot in the arm for our team to get the win,” Clanton said in Victory Lane. “We definitely made the right adjustments for the feature there. Lapped cars were a little hectic there, trying to get by ‘em. The air disturbs so much and you lose your nose

“Greg Bruening of Skyline Motorsports and Tyler Bruening, they give me everything I need to do to win this and we finally put in Victory Lane for ‘em.”

Clanton added a runner-up finish at the Wisconsin oval on Tuesday night, but felt like his qualifying effort cost him a chance at the win.

“We messed up qualifying a little bit and it put us in a hole,” Clanton said. “We rebounded in the heat race (to finish second behind Overton) and got us a good starting spot (fifth) and drove to second. I wish we could’ve started on the pole. I think we could’ve won the race.”

Shane Clanton entered his Skyline Motorsports No. 25 Late Model into battle with the XR Super Series on Monday evening at Gondik Law Speedway (Superior, Wis.) for the XR Superior Showcase opener.

In a field of 40 cars, Clanton set the pace in time trials with a blistering 15.423-second lap before picking up a heat race win. Leading flag-to-flag in the 40-lap feature, Shane raced to his fourth win of the season second career XR Super Series triumph. He collected a $20,000 payday ahead of Brandon Overton, Chris Madden, Ricky Weiss, and Joseph Joiner.

Action continued on Tuesday night with another $20,000-to-win program, where Shane raced from fifth-to-second in his heat race to earn the fifth-starting spot for the 40-lap finale. Shane went on advance to a runner-up finish behind Chris Madden with Brandon Overton, Jonathan Davenport, and Kyle Strickler rounding out the Top 5.

Prior to the Monday and Tuesday XR Super Series events, Clanton raced at Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wisc.) with the World of Outlaws (WoO) CASE Late Model Series during the 2022 edition of the USA Nationals.

Clanton finished 14th in the weekend opener on Thursday before retiring early from Saturday’s $50,000-to-win finale and was credited with a 23rd-place finish.
