SPRING CITY, TN – Jason Manley of Loudon, TN drove the #51 Days of Thunder Rowdy Burns Tribute CVR to victory Saturday night in the 25-lap Late Model Feature Race at Mountain View Raceway. Manley held off challenges from three-time track champion Barry Goodman of Spring City, TN and Zach Shannon of Wartburg, TN to take the win.

Shannon finished second in the Shannon & Sons Rocket and Goodman took the third spot driving the Charlie’s Used Auto Parts CVR. Seth Jolley of Spring City, TN was fourth in the J2 Graphics Special and Jeff Jackson of Ooltewah, TN rounded out the top five in the Jackson Racing Longhorn.

Manley swept the Late Model portion of the racing show by leading all 25 laps and he also set Fast Time with a lap around the ¼-mile high-banked clay oval in 11.305 seconds to earn the pole position for the main event. Manley pulled outside front row starter Goodman three car-lengths at the drop of the green flag, but a multi-car tangle in turn four brought out the caution flag.

Shannon was involved along with Cody Courtney of Knoxville, TN in the Courtney Racing Special, and Brandon Stanfield of Soddy Daisy, TN driving the Williamson Concrete and Construction Pierce. A complete restart saw another yellow flag when Brian Selby of Sparta, TN spun the PPM CVR in turn two.

Track officials single-filed the next restart and Manley led into turn one followed by Goodman, who challenged Manley on the inside, Colton Profitt of Crossville, TN, Jackson and Shannon. Manley held off Goodman, and encountered the cars on the tail end of the lead lap by the eighth tour of the race holding a one second lead over Goodman.

The third caution flag of the race slowed the field on lap 15 when Jeremy Thurman of Rockwood, TN spun the Thurman Racing GRT in turn two. Manley led Goodman, Profitt, Shannon and Jackson for the restart. When green flag action returned, Manley pulled away, as Profitt took his Wyatt Builders Capital Race Car to the outside groove to challenge Goodman for second.

The battle for second between Goodman and Profitt came to an end on lap 20 when Profitt spun on the high side in turn three collecting Goodman, who was running on the inside. Track officials ticketed Profitt with the caution, sending him to restart as the last car on the lead lap, and returning Goodman to second.

Shannon had moved up to the third spot, stepped to the high side on the restart, and the lead trio briefly battled for the point. Shannon sailed around Goodman for second after a two-lap side-by-side battle, but by them, Manley pulled away and took a 1.709 second margin of victory under the checkered flag.

A severe thunderstorm early in the evening led to a two-hour rain delay. Track officials with the help of the competitors rolled the track back in, restarted the show at 8:30 p.m., and completed the racing program with seven Divisions at 12:20 a.m.

In other action, Brandon Stanfield of Soddy Daisy, TN won the 20-lap Sportsman Main Event driving the Frizzell Excavating Mastersbilt and Brady Lee of Knoxville, TN drove the Lee’s Mountain Retreat Camaro to the win in the 12-lap B-Hobby Feature Race.
