Tanner English Knocks Down Top Five at Williams Grove; Quad Cities 150 Ahead this Weekend

(NORRIS CITY, ILLINOIS) Riggs Motorsports headed to the states of Pennsylvania and Ohio with the World of Outlaws Case Construction Late Model Series from August 19-21 for a trio of $10,000 to win programs. Things kicked off on Friday night at the sprawling Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Tanner English stopped the clock third quickest overall during qualifying and later ran second in his heat race. After drawing the third starting spot before the drop of the green flag in the 40-lap feature, Tanner eventually netted a strong fourth place performance behind only victor Shane Clanton, Max Blair, and Ryan Gustin!

On Saturday evening, the action quickly shifted to Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio for the running of the 'Battle at the Border,' which also carried a $10,000 payday. Tanner clicked off the third fastest time in Group B during qualifying prior to placing third in his stacked heat race. The Benton, Kentucky ace, who currently finds himself second in the national series point standings, was able to move past three competitors during the 40-lapper to land in the seventh finishing position. Sunday's scheduled stop at Tri-City Raceway Park in Franklin, Pennsylvania was then unfortunately washed out by heavy rainfall. Complete results from the weekend can be found online at www.woolms.com.

Tanner and his #81E team will rejoin the World of Outlaws Late Model Series this weekend (August 25-27) on the 1/4-mile oval at Davenport Speedway in Davenport, Iowa. Another trio of events will make up the ‘Quad Cities 150’ at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds venue. Action will get underway later tonight with a $10,000 to win program, while a similar $10,000 to win show will be held on Friday evening. Saturday’s 70-lap grand finale will then boast a whopping $30,000 top prize. All three races will be broadcast LIVE to subscribers of DIRTVision.

Teammate Jack Riggs will be in the Land of Lincoln this weekend for a pair of $2,500 to win throwdowns. Up first will be a visit to Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois on Friday night for the ‘Gary Gerstner Memorial,’ while Saturday will take the #81J team to Fairbury Speedway in downtown Fairbury, Illinois for the ‘FALS Cup Championship’ race.
