Reschedule Date for Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Visit to Swainsboro Set for October 15

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) When the checkered flag fell to Dale McDowell in the final Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series points battle back on July 30 at Tazewell Speedway, it was expected that drivers and fans wouldn’t hear much about the popular summer miniseries until 2023. Recently; however, series officials and management of Swainsboro Raceway have agreed upon a reschedule date for the rain-out that occurred at the Swainsboro, Georgia oval on Sunday, July 24. The $10,053 to win event will now take place on Saturday, October 15.

A total of 21 Super Late Models signed into the pit area at Swainsboro Raceway on July 24 to enter round eight of the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series. Those drivers included Dalton Cook, Banjo Duke, Jason Garver, Brenden Smith, Will Roland, Jimmy Sharpe, Jr., Carson Ferguson, Parker Martin, Taylor Puckett, Chris Ferguson, Kenny Collins, Jordy Nipper, John Henderson, Brandon Overton, Cla Knight, Jensen Ford, Cody Overton, Wil Herrington, Shun Thomas, Zack Mitchell, and eventual series Champion Cory Hedgec0ck. When October 15 rolls around on the calendar, any and all drivers will be eligible to enter the brand-new program.

“Paul Purvis and myself have been talking pretty regularly about a reschedule date and we are excited about the opportunity to sanction another race down at Swainsboro Raceway,” quoted series promoter Ray Cook today. “Paul was very adamant that he wanted to host a Super Late Model special before the end of the year for his fans. We scoured over schedules and every weekend is busy these days, but I think October 15 will work the best for all parties. Hopefully, we get some good weather this time and we can put on a great show in the Peach State to put an exclamation mark on our season!”

Chris Madden ('08), Casey Roberts ('09), Bub McCool ('10), Chris Madden ('12), Jonathan Davenport ('13), Casey Roberts ('14 & '15), Dennis Franklin ('16), Donald McIntosh ('17), and Brandon Overton x2 ('18) have all picked up checkered flags with the series in the past at the Paul Purvis-owned oval. More information about the track can be found online by clicking on www.SwainsboroRaceway.com.

The tire rule will be Hoosier 1350 and 1600 or American Racer 48 and 56 on the right front, left rear, and right rear, while the left front will be totally open. There will be a six-tire limit that will be enforced on October 15 at Swainsboro Raceway.

Body rules and the Droop Rule will be the same as those agreed on by both the World of Outlaws Late Model Series and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series - among many others. The entry fee will be $100.00 and transponders will be available to rent. Any driver not advancing into the feature field will receive $75.00 in tow money. As has been the case during the last few years, ALL of the series events will be broadcast LIVE to subscribers of FloRacing!
