Says Hoosier will be reducing the number of Super Late Model tires produced from 26 to 6. That's quite a change. NLMT 1, 2, 3, 4 ( 1 softest to 4 hardest compounds)

    90 in 1,2,3
    92 in 2,3,4

Wild West Shootout is when this will tentatively launch. They're aiming for a similar program for Crate Late Models in 2024.

These are designed to be no groove and no sipe tires!!!!
    Its worse than I expected...

I'm guessing $300 a pop too? I hope we get some time to use up the used, good tires we have.

Press release stated "initially" there would be a no groove and no sipe mandate in effect. Maybe they'll open this up later.

Also said Hoosier expects the new compounds to have a reduced retail price from current tires.

Said they will be less than the current cost because it simplifies the production/distribution process.

I personally love the no groove/no sipe, the series I race has that as a rule and it makes my tire preparation time minimal.

It does, but I figured we would see none of that savings. That said, we have run 10 shows this year, zero new tires. I can do that again next year, if they don't force this on us.

They said they usually suggest a 4 race grace period to their weekly tracks to use up the old tires.

"They’re apparently gonna be making 10s too. "

If they are only doing 4 compounds, I would think the wise choice is a 70 for the 4th compound not a 10.

If your correct what about the RR on rubbered tracks?

one article says planning a similar program for crates?

why do they need a separate marked tire (assume that's what they gonna do)? So open cars can't sell their one race tires to the crate guys and Hoosier loses out on sales for crate cars?

Fastrak, CRATE USA, RUSH and UMP all have different tires with different stamps on the sidewalls.

Anyone still run cheap (5.7 rod) 406 ? Is the block a "stock" GM? Not trying to steal ideas. I'm living on little over grand a month. Sure can't afford any go-fast stuff.

    Default @bbc

The release says the compounds are going to be 1,2,3,4 and that they’re going to be based but not exactly like the current 10,20,30,40. It appears the 70 is going away completely. I guess if it’s rubbered up most dudes will be on the 3 or 4.
