SPRING CITY, TN – Colton Profitt of Crossville, TN powered to the 25-lap Late Model Feature Win Saturday night at Mountain View Raceway driving the Wyatt Builders Capital Race Car. The real stars of the night were the 134 competitors from five different states that poured out of the pit area onto the front straightaway at Intermission to Meet and Greet the race fans.

This created a sea of humanity at Mountain View Raceway with the drivers and fans interacting. The drivers handed out autographed hero cards, as well as goodies for the kids. After Meet and Greet, the race track was cleared, and the action began with ten Feature Races in nine racing Divisions.

Profitt took the lead on lap two and then pulled away to take the win in a caution filled race. Casey Turman of Lafayette, GA took the second spot in the Turman Racing Special in his first visit to Mountain View Raceway. Josh Collins of Knoxville, TN finished third in the Knoxville Diesel Rocket.

Sylvan Schuette of Blairsville, GA was fourth driving the Fast Fab Set Up & Design Train. Kelby Norwood of Etowah, TN started 14th and charged through the field to round out the top five in the Exit Real Estate Rocket.

Defending and three-time Track Late Model Champion Barry Goodman of Spring City, TN was the Fast Qualifier with a lap around the ¼-mile high-banked clay oval in 10.983 seconds driving the Charlie’s Used Auto Parts CVR to earn the Pole Position for the Main Event. Goodman led the field into turn one followed by Profitt to his outside, Kyle Courtney of Knoxville, TN in the Orr Brothers Construction Kryptonite, Turman, and Collins.

Profitt took the lead from Goodman on lap two when Goodman got loose coming off the inside of turn two and Profitt sailed around the outside for the point. The first of four caution flags came out on lap three when Jeremy Hicks of Cleveland, TN spun the Hicks Racing Special in turn three.

Profitt, Goodman and Courtney pulled away on the restart while Collins got to the inside of Turman to race side-by-side for the fourth spot. The lead trio caught the cars on the tail end of the lead lap by the seventh lap. By the halfway mark of the race, Profitt had a six second lead on Goodman and Courtney.

In heavy lapped traffic, Goodman caught Profitt on lap 18 and got to the inside of the leader going into turn one on lap 19. Goodman led lap 19, but Profitt turned the tables on the new leader going into turn one on lap 20 to retake the point. Courtney followed Profitt to the inside groove of turn three to pass Goodman for the second spot.

The second caution flag of the race came out on lap 22 when Alec Morgan of Cedartown, GA spun the Morgan Racing Special in turn one and collected Norwood, who was running seventh on the lead lap. Morgan was ticketed with the caution flag and Norwood was placed back in his spot. During the caution period, Courtney’s left-rear tire went flat, but he refused to go to the pits.

When the field green for the restart, Courtney in second place had a plume of smoke coming off his left-rear. That caused the field to scramble in turn three. Turman got inside of Courtney, who had Goodman to his outside. Turman took over the second spot, and Collins used the inside groove to also get under Goodman to take over the third position,

The caution flag waved on lap 24 for debris. The top nine cars were on the lead lap with Profitt, Turman, Collins, Goodman, Joe Bray of New Tazewell, TN in the Joe Bray Roofing Rocket in fifth, Schuette, Norwood, Addison Cardwell of Knoxville, TN in the Cardwell Racing Special in eighth, and Courtney.

The field lined up for a one lap dash to the checkered flag. When the green flag waved, three cars tried to occupy the same piece of real estate in turn two. Bray got inside Goodman to battle for the fourth spot, and Schuette got into the back of Bray pushing him into Goodman, who spun to bring out the caution flag.

Track officials ticketed Bray with the caution flag, and Goodman left the track. In the one lap dash to the finish, Profitt took the checkered flag with a .384 second margin of victory over Turman in second. Collins, Schuette, and Norwood rounded out the top five.

In other action, Jesse Lowe of Crossville, TN drove the Bray Roofing Rocket to the win in the 20-lap Sportsman Feature Race, and Robby Reagan of Crossville, TN won the 20-lap Open-Wheel Modified Main Event in the Jason Lewis Dayton Super Center Lightning.
