He won the Gator 50 which gives him an automatic starting spot in the dtwc

They will have 50+ cars and a packed house full of fans but…the track is the worst as far as the racing goes. I can’t believe they continue to hold this race there.

It’s like you just said: lots of cars and a packed house- pretty simple!
Ona side note: the DTWC has to have plenty of spectator seating, pit area for teams and most importantly for this event- a large camping area. This limits the choices- several tracks have failed at hosting this event. Apparently Carl Short and Portsmouth/ Lucas Oil have a good thing going. The racing can be hit/ miss - I’ve seen both but I will be there in a few weeks to enjoy!

It was a similar situation at Pennsboro all those years...horrible racing but large attendance. PRP is the exact same thing. They should have never made that track bigger. It doesn't race well at all.

Everything about Portsmouth is great, except for the racing. That’s an issue. I guess it’s hard to improve your surface when it washes away every spring

No argument here Dropshock. We love going to Portsmouth for the town, lots of cool places to eat and things to see. Fall atmosphere at the DTWC is always good as well, but the racing is meh.

I wish we could have the old PRP back, the one that was built in the early 90s. I feel like it raced better before they reconfigured it.

I thoroughly enjoyed driving around that place. But as a spectator, it’s the worst experience I’ve ever had.
My wife and I went to the sprint car/iron man race earlier in the season and I have to say out of all the races I’ve been to, I’ve never went home with more dirt caked in my hair. I had to watch the sprint car race from the lineup schute just so I could at least see the score board and the lap counter.
That was likely my last trip to PRP.
