16th Ann. CCSDS Gumbo Nationals at Greenville Speedway this Weekend
Five Drivers in Contention for Series Championship

CONWAY, Ark. (09/26/22) – The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) carries arguably the tightest championship battle of any series in North America into this weekend’s 16th annual Gumbo Nationals at Greenville (Miss.) Speedway.

With three events remaining for the series in 2022, Brian Rickman, Morgan Bagley, B.J. Robinson, Kyle Beard, and Tyler Stevens all have mathematical claims to the series crown.

Rickman enters the weekend as the Midwest Sheet Metal Marked Man atop the standings with a 41-point advantage over Morgan Bagley. B.J. Robinson sits in third (73 points out of the lead), Kyle Beard is fourth (80 points out of the lead), and Midwest Sheet Metal Rookie of the Year point leader, Tyler Stevens is 133 markers out of the top spot in fifth.

Out of the five contenders, only Beard (who won the CCSDS title in 2013 and 2014), has ever won a series championship.

“This is really exciting for our series to have five guys with a chance to win the championship. You just don’t see that very often. With just three races remaining this season, this deal could honestly come down to the last corner of the laps lap of the last event,” CCSDS CEO Chris Sullivan said. “The Gumbo Nationals is always a great time, and as a series we are looking forward to heading to Greenville Speedway this weekend.”

This weekend’s 16th annual Gumbo Nationals at Greenville (Miss.) Speedway comes to life with an Open Practice Session on Thursday, September 29.

From there a $4,000-to-win CCSDS Super Late Model program is scheduled for Friday. Joining Friday night’s action is a complete program for 602 Sportsman and Young Guns along with qualifying and heat races for the Elite Glass Crate Late Models and Lee’s Body Shop Street Stocks.

On Saturday, October 1 the CCSDS Super Late Model contingent will battle in a complete show featuring an $8,000 winner’s check. The Vapor Shak Hot Shots will contest a complete $500-to-win program and Modifieds will take part in a complete $1,000-to-win program. Meanwhile, B-Mains and Features will be held the Elite Class Crate Late Models ($3,000-to-win), Lee’s Body Shop Street Stock ($2,000-to-win), and Factory Stocks presented by Downs Auto Repair ($2,000-to-win).

Over $80,000 in purse money is on the line throughout the weekend.

The tire rule for the event is a Hoosier 1350 on all four corners with a Hoosier 1600 white-dot and LM40 right rear option.
