Tanner English Fourth in Stateline Showdown Opener; Set to Race in Home State this Weekend

(NORRIS CITY, ILLINOIS) The Riggs Motorsports team ventured to Boyd's Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia over the September 23-24 weekend for the 'Stateline Showdown,' which was sanctioned by the World of Outlaws Case Construction Late Model Series. In last Friday's $10,000 to win program, Tanner English won his heat race in preliminary action before starting and finishing fourth in the 40-lap feature to trail only victor Jimmy Owens, Max Blair, and Dale McDowell.

At Boyd's on Saturday in the $20,000 to win weekend finale, Tanner placed third in his loaded heat race prior to passing a trio of competitors en route to a steady eighth place performance in the 50-lapper. Following the weekend, the Benton, Kentucky ace still finds himself second in the latest version of the national series point standings, as he sits 98 markers behind current leader Dennis Erb, Jr. Complete results from the 'Stateline Showdown' can be accessed online by clicking on www.woolms.com.

With the scheduled World of Outlaws doubleheader at Cherokee (SC) Speedway and Senoia (GA) Raceway on September 30-October 1 nixed by the impact of Hurricane Ian, Tanner will take the opportunity to race much closer to home. Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Kentucky will play host to a pair of Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series contests during the track’s annual ‘Fall Classic’ weekend. A $5,000 top prize will be on the line later tonight in the ‘Archie Coffman Tribute’ race, while a $10,088 winner’s check will be up for grabs in the ‘Big Daddy Classic’ on Saturday. Additional information on the doubleheader weekend in the Commonwealth of Kentucky can be found by logging onto www.imdirt.net.
