R.J. Conley Victorious in Jim Dunn Memorial for $3,000; CMI Set to Invade Atomic

(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) A crown jewel extravaganza was next up on the racing calendar for Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI), as the 42nd edition of the 'Dirt Track World Championship' was held on October 14-15 at Portsmouth Raceway Park. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series finale drew 68 competitors to the nearby Portsmouth, Ohio venue and a whopping $100,000 first place prize was once again on the line. During preliminary action on Friday night, R.J. Conley finished fifth in his loaded heat race, while his brother Rod Conley ran ninth in his heat race.

At PRP on Saturday evening in the final night of the 'Dirt Track World Championship,' R.J. placed third in his consolation event, which was unfortunately one spot out of a coveted transfer position into the 100-lap headliner. Rod, on the other hand, also missed out on the extra-distance feature after finishing fourteenth in his B-Main. In the 'Jim Dunn Memorial' for non-qualifiers to cap off the evening, R.J. salvaged the weekend by picking up the victory in the 25-lapper to earn the $3,000 payday ahead of a top five that included runner-up Devin Moran, Kyle Bronson, Max Blair, and Kevin Wagner! Both Conley brothers will trek north on U.S. Highway 23 tomorrow to compete in the final points night at Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio. A regular show for the ground-pounding Super Late Models will take place on Saturday, October 22 and a $3,000 winner’s check will be up for grabs. Rod, who is currently on top of the track point standings, will be looking to secure a track championship tomorrow, while his brother R.J. will be gunning for his first feature win at Atomic Speedway this year.
