Highway 191 Speedway
In Kentucky. Was this track still open this season or has it closed? It's a fairly new track but I haven't heard anything about it for some time now.
One of those eastern Kentucky tracks.

It's been closed for a few years

Wow, time flies!! Never went there but it looked like a pretty small track with high banking and very limited ground for parking and pits.

You got it. You basically got sideways and just held it wide open. It was like being in the center of a corner on a normal track, but never leaving it.

Don’t think 201 opened this year. One of the Breeding guys was in some legal issues with the federal government.
-
Jarrod Breeding spent some time in the slammer for tax evasion. He is the owner of the speedway. I don't think they have raced since 2018. Very cool race track.

Yes -201 is definitely a setting like none other!
Kinda carved out in a pit. Could have been coal- but don’t know.

I always wanted to go there that little bottom with small mountains all around. I like race tracks in places like that.... And it was a good track also, from the videos I've seen.

I take it that Willard is closed too?
I miss the old Clay City Speedway. They had some dandies with Kentucky's best with some outsiders appearing also. Tom Helfrich for one. That first turn was a scary one, before they shortened the track.

Not sure on Willard but the family that have been promoting Mountain Motorsports Park in Isom, Ky are the new promoters for 2023 of Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap).

We went to Bulls Gap one time in March, the track was dry and so were the pits, they cancelled for some reason. Rain out I think someone said. Highest banking I've ever seen except for Tazewell.

Bet there were some tire tricks going on there. Street stocks at Loogootee used slicker tires on the inside rear to cut pushing. Track was very sandy.

Willard opened back up this year. They are running this weekend.
I was told 201 was indeed an old strip mine at one point.

201 Speedway was the home track for Toddirt, if anyone remembers that 4M member from the early days.
Toddirt, you out there???

191 closed midway through 2016 I believe. Willard has been running for its 2nd year now. 201 is rumored to be opening back up every year but nothing seems to happen.
