    Question The Good Guys

Got this idea from reading the Jimmy Owens 2023 thread. I think most would agree that Jimmy is a great example of a ‘good guy’ in this sport. We tend to spend more time hammering the ‘bad guys’…it’s human nature, unfortunately. With this in mind, let’s hear your ‘good guys’…active drivers only. Can be national, regional or local.Go!

My all time favorite good guy. Rick "Scrub" Eckert. Still getting the job done on the regional level. Just won a race this weekend at Georgetown Speedway.

This isn’t this thread related but speaking of Eckert winning at Georgetown: what about Amanda Whaley Robinson (Ross’s wife/crew chief) finishing in 2nd place ahead of Ross who finished 4th! She is suppose to also drive in the XR races at Vegas.

She was a pretty good racer in her day before marrying Ross. I am pretty sure she gave up her own driving to be Ross's Crew Chief.

Amanda was pretty good both nights but to be fair Ross was the class of the field Friday and he was riding in second and looked to be good again when he got a rf flat on Saturday.

73-year-old Gary Webb. Still competitive locally after 51 seasons of racing. Picked up feature win number 523 in July. He's been a class act all the way - one of the nicest guys in racing.

Based on my personal experiences over the years, I would vote for Owens, Marlar and Dustin Linville. IMO three of the nicest guys you'll ever meet in the pits.

I don't know how you could not like Dale McDowell? He is definitely one of the best dudes in the pit area. I had him sign an old flag I had when I was kid. He noticed it had guys like Skip Arp and Freddy Smith on there. He said, "you've had this one awhile. It's got some of the guys from my age group on there." And laughed. Most guys would have just signed it and handed it back to me.

    Thumbs up

Dennis Erb Jr. and has team has always been nice to my friends and me. Just a very quiet person and lets his racing do the talking. He's had my respect for a long time. That's about as blue-collar group of folks as you could on a national tour and any dirt race.
