Ray Cook Streaks to Sixth at Boyd’s; Debuts Retro Scheme for Deep Fried 75

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Ray Cook, of Brasstown, North Carolina, piloted Richard Austin's #85 Capital racecar last Friday night, October 28 at Boyd's Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia. A weekly program was on tap for the Late Models and a $1,200 payday was up for grabs.

Ray knocked down the thirteenth quickest lap overall during the hot lap / qualifying session and later started the 25-lap feature from the inside of the seventh row. The driver known as the "Tarheel Tiger" then pointed his machine towards the front in the headliner and was able to pass seven competitors en route to a solid sixth place showing. Ray trailed only victor Ronnie Johnson, Justin Cameron, Robby Mason, Tod Hernandez, and Tate McCollum at the unfurling of the checkered flag. Complete results from the Chattanooga-area oval can be viewed online at www.boydsspeedway.com.

Next up on the racing calendar will be the 10th edition of the ‘Deep Fried 75’ at Duck River Raceway Park. Ray will bring his own Capital racecar to the Wheel, Tennessee facility on November 4-5, but a new paint scheme will adorn his #53 machine. A throwback retro scheme will take fans of Ray back to the early 2000’s when the orange/white/blue Youngblood Concrete Special was a fixture on the Hav-A-Tampa Dirt Racing Series trail. Weather pending, a $5,000 top prize will be on the line later tonight in a Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series battle, while all competitors in the pit area will set their sights on the $10,000 paycheck on Saturday evening. Additional information on the ‘Deep Fried 75’ can be accessed at www.imdirt.net.
