Ricky Thornton Jr. Debuts New Modified with an Arizona Victory
Second Annual Peach State Classic at Senoia Raceway Up Next

MARTINSVILLE, Ind. (11/07/22) – Ricky Thornton Jr. triumphantly debuted his brand-new D&E Outside Services / Hoker Trucking No. 20RT Wehrs Machine & Racing Products / Excel Floor Covering / Certified Inspection Service Lethal Chassis Modified with a win on Saturday evening at Central Arizona Raceway.

The victory marked his fifth overall of the 2022 season.

“Man, what a fun night. I picked up the Modified win tonight after a badass race with Jeremy Thornton, where we just kept trading sliders. And then the old man (Ricky Thornton Sr.) won in the Pure Stock division,” Ricky Thornton Jr. said. “It’s always fun to race close back to home, and I look forward to hitting up some more shows out that way later this year and early next year. We’re getting ready to head south to Senoia (Raceway) for the final two Castrol FloRacing (Night in America) events of the year. Lots of big money down there, so hopefully we can get a big check or two for the shop wall.”

Saturday saw Ricky Thornton Jr. return to action aboard his Wehrs Machine No. 20RT Modified for the grand reopening of Central Arizona Raceway (Casa Grande, Ariz.).

In a field of 35 IMCA Modifieds, Thornton secured his spot into the main event with a fourth-to-first run in his heat. Charging from the ninth-starting position in the feature, Ricky overtook his brother Jeremy with a slider on lap 14 and paced the field for the final six circuits to register his fifth win of the season. He finished 2.102 seconds ahead of Jeremy with Zachary Madrid, Cody Thompson, and Spencer Wilson completing the Top-5 finishers.

Ricky will return to the driver’s seating of the SSI Motorsports No. 20RT Dyno One Inc./ Excel Floor Covering/ Sub-Surface of Indiana/ Longhorn Chassis/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model this weekend with the second annual Peach State Classic at Senoia (Ga.) Raceway.

Action includes a $20,000-to-win program on Friday night and a $53,053-to-win event on Saturday night.

Thornton Jr. is currently third in the latest series standings.
