Mike Marlar Pockets $15,000 for WoO World Finals Opening Round Win
Senoia’s Peach State Classic Next on the Docket

WINFIELD, Tenn. (11/07/22) – Mike Marlar pushed his 2022-win total to 14 on Thursday night with a World of Outlaws (WoO) Case Late Model Series victory in the opening round of the NGK NTK World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

The $15,000 victory came aboard his Delk Equipment Sales / Tri-Rivers Enterprises No. 157 Can-Am Auto Salvage / Longhorn Chassis / Cornett Racing Engine Super Late Model.

Additionally, he added a fourth-place finish in Thursday’s $15,000-to-win prelim.

“On Wednesday night we had an absolute rocket ship in the feature, and I caught (Shane) Clanton there late and got to the lead. It’s rare to see a car drive from ninth to first in a 40 lapper anymore, but this thing was that good,” Marlar said. “We finished fourth on Thursday, and I thought we had a pretty good car again on Saturday but got collected in a wreck in the heat race that knocked us out.”

Mike Marlar entered the Delk Equipment Sales No. 157 Late Model into battle with the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series on Wednesday afternoon at The Dirt Track at Charlotte (Concord, N.C.) for the annual World Finals.

Drawing a stout field of 70 Late Models for the three-day event spanning over four days, Marlar followed up the eighth-fastest time in his group with a second-place showing in his heat race. Rolling off ninth for the feature, Mike was up to fifth by the halfway point of the 40-lapper and closed in on race-long pacesetter Shane Clanton as a caution with four laps remaining set up late race battle. Nosing ahead of Clanton coming out of turn four on lap 38, Marlar charged to his 14th win of the season and 13th career World of Outlaws triumph.

He pocketed a $15,000 payday ahead of Clanton, Trent Ivey, Brandon Overton, and Tim McCreadie.

For Thursday’s prelim, Mike outran Tyler Erb in his heat race to pick up the eight-lap victory. With $15,000 on the line, Marlar clawed forward one spot in the 40-lap affair to register a fourth-place finish. He trailed Tanner English, Shane Clanton, and Chris Madden to the checkers with Hudson O’Neal coming in fifth.

After a scheduled off day on Friday, Mike rolled off on the pole of his heat but was collected in an early tangle that sidelined him for the remainder of the weekend.

The Castrol FloRacing Night in America weekend features two complete shows with a $20,000 winner’s check on the line Friday night and a $53,053-to-win finale on Saturday.
