Ray Cook Nabs Top Ten in Deep Fried 75 Opener; Eyes Gobbler at Boyd’s Next

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Ray Cook Racing debuted a throwback retro paint scheme over the November 4-5 weekend at Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, Tennessee. The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series presided over the 'Deep Fried 75' weekend in the Volunteer State, which kicked off on Friday night with a $5,000 to win shootout. Ray Cook clicked off the fifth quickest lap overall during the qualifying session prior to starting the A-Main from the inside of the third row.

The Brasstown, North Carolina ace appeared to have a top five car in the contest, but was stuck in the wrong lane on a couple of double file restarts. At the checkers, Ray was paid for an eighth place performance in the weekend opener. Saturday's show, which was scheduled to shell out a $10,000 paycheck, was unfortunately pushed back to Sunday due to inclement weather and Ray chose not to stick around for the rain-postponed race. Complete results from Friday at Duck River Raceway Park can be accessed online at www.imdirt.net.

The #53 team is slated to take the upcoming November 11-12 weekend off from racing action, as Ray will be on the Castrol FloRacing Night in America Series crew officiating the annual ‘Peach State Classic’ at Senoia (GA) Raceway. Ray is scheduled to jump behind the wheel next on Saturday, November 19 at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia. The 34th edition of the ‘Gobbler’ will be held on that Saturday and the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series special will pay out a $10,000 top prize. Additional information on the ‘Gobbler,’ which starts with a Friday practice session on November 18, can be found by pointing your web browser to www.imdirt.net.
