Dirt late model racing is in the shape that nascar was in, in 2005. We’ll have a COT dirt late model in 5 more years, 27 more pages in the rule book, and all of you will still be here crying and still wasting money on DoD subscriptions and pit passes.

    King1,

You are probably right. I'll bail, just like I did with Cup racing.

I don't think I've seen more than 5 people across social media platforms say it is a good idea. It even looks like drivers from their own roster don't like it.

How is eliminating driver IN MAY!!! a good thing??? Omg this one takes the cake. This is waaaay worse than nascar. Why don’t we just bring the traveling circus in. One race to decide a championship season?????? This has to be a joke

Is this possibly due to reduced crowds at tracks in the fall when Football season is on? Is this pushing the changes?

I think too many of you are hating this strictly because it’s what NASCAR does and you hate NASCAR. But…..take a look at the final point standings once:

    https://www.lucasdirt.com/standings/2022/19287/1135

Terbo finished 6th in points and almost 900 points behind. I would guess by early August, and the way 39/1 were running, they knew that their title hopes were done. I think we can all say that by early September we were pretty confident the title was T-Mac’s to lose. So if you think with an open mind you will see some positives to this change from a series, track, fan and driver perspective. Only 1 driver will hate it, the point leader and you have issues.

From my viewpoint: the only people who have a legitimate complaint are the drivers/teams? What are they saying?
I guess we will know come March/April when we see who is running Lucas.
As stated above: If the teams/fans don’t like it- just don’t follow/attend it. WOO is begging for teams& fans!

I’ve heard this was a driving factor for Madden going WoO.

How long will Madden stay on tour if he’s not in the top 3 in points?

    Tireguy17,

Rewarding someone for a few good weeks, is the exact problem with it. That's why it's a gimmick. Giving a guy who was average for most of the year, a title, is wrong.

It ruins the whole historical perspective of accomplishments as well.

If he was average for most of the year- how could he be in the top 4 in points with 1 race remaining?

And if said driver only had 4 good weeks how could that said driver be in the top 4?

Look at last year's standings. It's right there for you.

And to address your other comments, anyone who buys a ticket is a stake holder.

I respectfully disagree: a person buying a ticket is not a stakeholder in how a series point structure is set up. They are buying a ticket for that 1 particular race to gain admission and be entertained. Just like going to the movies- you buy a ticket to watch the movie- but that don’t entitle you to rules and regulations of the theater or production company.
It’s ironic the same negative responses come from the same people who wanted the DTWC out of Portsmouth. They got their wishes and still are not happy??
What am I missing here ??

You paint with quite the wide brush. I didn't ask for Portsmouth to lose their race.

I'm also unsure how those events are at all related.

3 and I enjoyed all of them. Lucas runs a great show each night. I just read up on how this will work. Starts in May. 4 races throughout year. 3 will place the drivers and then the final. I will say the money has been increased by a good bit. That is great for the teams obviously. I do give credit to Lucas Oil for putting this much money into the payouts 👍 Their playoff system appears to be better than NASCAR’s
