Happy for Ruben, he use to announce like every lap was the last lap at the Indianapolis 500, but he has reigned that in and has become very solid IMHO

I feel exactly the same way……this is a great pick. Merry Christmas to Rueben, got to know his mentor is smiling from above.

Congrats to Ruben! He's paid his dues announcing all those Summer National races while still attending college. He's crafted a unique style, listened to some constructive advice and still maintained his enthusiasm on every call. Think about all the hours, miles logged and late nights being a traveling WoO / dirt track announcer. Not for everyone. We all miss Rick, but he'd be proud of Ruben. Ruben won't let us forget the past.

Good call WoO. He’s refined his skillset considerably and will definitely work even harder as he takes the place of his friend and mentor.

Can we get Mike Norris to be the Summer Nationals announcer? 🤞🏻

Ruben has earned it. He loves the sport. Rick would be proud!

Not really a fan, but he does a decent job!

Would have preferred Deewayne for the job!!!

Rueben needs to calm down. His yelling and screaming over the mic makes a lot of us turn off or mute the races.

Yea spanky, my concerns also. It seems the people behind those decisions want a LOUD person on the microphone. I think Ruebon calmed down when he was commenting on races after his change. We will see if he goes back to that style, I sure hope not.

I agree. You want the announcer to be loud sometimes but not 100% of the night. It just gets annoying after awhile. That's why if he was announcing races id find something else to watch.

Just a question: are you the same Spanky that announces for Iron Man Series?

Rueben has come a long way in my book. I am fine with him as the new WoO announcer. The sport needs young blood and he will learn from his mistakes and be just fine the longer he does it.
