Return on investment………SS picks outrageous examples to discredit trump, I do the same with the union because it’s easy , it strikes a nerve and the hyperbole is the same with just a few word changes.
Clearly it’s a failed attempt at getting him to realize just how stupid the trump timeshare going on in his head is. You bring up good points on the “worth it” scale and the answer is nope…..thanks kid.

For over thirty year I belonged to a collective bargaining association, but we could not strike. I've seen the good and the bad of some of the goings on. In my past job, if you did your job right and were a good employee, you never really needed your association. It was when it came to contract time that you wanted to be treated fairly for wages and benefits.

But, I do have issues with teachers unions. Here in Wisconsin the teachers unions used to be very very powerful. Back in the 90s the state organization (WEAC) also ran their own health insurance provider (WEA Trust). They used to claim it was a non-profit but they made huge profits. They used to have it baked in the cake of their contracts that the school districts had to get their insurance through WEA Trust. At their high point they controlled the health insurance for about 95% of the school districts in the state.

Now, if a school district went shopping and found a competitor who would offer identical coverage for far less money, they would refuse and threaten to strike. Saving the taxpayers money was not going to happen. In order to avoid teachers going on strike our state passed a law called QEO. QEO was a qualified economic offer which was a tool to avoid a strike if they reached an impasse during negotiations. The minimum of the QEO was 3.9%. I don't know that I ever got a 3.9% raise but that was their minimum. Now the 3.9% was a total of wage and bennies but here's the kicker. It was their own insurance company (WEA Trust) that kept raising rates. They kept raising rates because they knew they could. They controlled the insurance for most districts and when they made their obscene profits they turned money into political contributions to get politicians elected who would continue their gravy train. They contributed to races right down to the level of local school boards.

This existed until 2011 when Scott Walker came into office and enacted Act10. Act10 changed a bunch of collective bargaining laws and allowed school districts to shop for competitive insurance plans. The savings were huge for taxpayers as school districts began to save millions. As of June of 2022, WEA Trust got out of the insurance business. After years of fleecing taxpayers, they couldn't make a go of it in a competitive market. Teachers are still compensated very well in Wisconsin but they are a very bitter bunch.

Now on a national scale we are seeing the power of teachers unions yet again, especially as it pertains to the pandemic. Shutting down schools was completely unnecessary. It was not done to protect kids. Kids are/were in the lowest group of danger from Covid. Shutting down schools was done for teachers at the behest of the teachers unions. Even at age 65 the positive outcome numbers for Covid run at over 98% and most teachers are retired for 10 years at age 65. The school shutdowns were a big wet sloppy kiss from this administration to a big donor.

How about sending federal agents to school board meetings to intimidate parents who opposed all the trans policies? Who do you think asked for that? Garland sent the DOJ to those meetings after getting the letter from national union. How terrible that parents thought they should have a say in their children's education.

Good teachers deserve good pay and bennies. I have no arguments with that. But in this day and age how many days or weeks can go by until we see yet another story of a teacher/student s#x case? A teacher found with kid porn? A teacher engaging in inappropriate behavior while in an employment setting? Grooming behavior? Their unions will be there for them all the way, trying to help them keep their jobs and licenses.

Yeah, I've got some issues with teachers unions.

Teachers union are an example of something that needs to go. Put to an end as well as the Department of Education. I'm sure the great Scott Walker would agree. The man did a great job and is another example of the left forcing "MAGA" out of office through voter fraud.

unions were a great equalizer in there beginning , you had men working for 2 bucks a day and slowly killing themselves while one or a couple fat cats got filthy rich , years later in the 80,s , a lot of the blue collar workers children got educated and moved into management , ( i was one of these ) human resource department improved beyond just hiring , and they began to realize that if you treat your workers right to begin with , there was no need for a union , thus taking money away from the union fat cats sitting in the high rise office buildings and mostly in bed with the dem,s , I will say , the only relevance a union has shown me in years is this last deal with the rail workers , but I was not in total agreement with them ( rail workers ) , also , wasnt it funny when biden told the union to back off , they made quick concessions and it was over , so that means we know who controls the union's .......

They were certainly useful and much needed fastford…….absolutely no doubt about it.( just like my first 8 track in the car was lol)

Now it’s just a money grab for everything it touches and costs more than it’s worth imo….I don’t understand the need, especially if you’re halfway smart and good enough or better than most at what you do.

They have never really been a part of my life/work .I know I just don’t like what I read and see and more importantly what we all pay extra in the end……I bust on SS about it because it irks him. He likes to throw stupid stuff out to get reactions.I figured he would appreciate my stupid stuff too….but in reverse.

Hope you’re good, it’s always good to see you post.

I'm not the one trying to get my creditability back. I'm not the one who lied to all of you. I'm not the one who threw nurses under the bus when they were trying to do the right thing for the patients. I'm not the one admitting he was just trying to get back at me. I'm not the one jealous of unions for what they have, and I don't. I'm not the one sucking up to you because I need your support. I'm not the one who had to use his other username to try to get the heat off myself.

My wife has worked in schools for 32 years and with the pandemic it wasn't just the teachers who were concerned. The Administration was also concerned because, of shortages in teachers, subs plus just regular staff personal. When the pandemic first hit no one was sure who the virus was going to affect more older people or younger people so, the schools were face with a difficult decision to go remote or not. they were already in the process instead of having to make snow days up go remote on those days the pandemic just advanced that process. They were afraid they wouldn't even have enough staff to have school so, they made the difficult decision to go remote.

We can go around and second guess everything now that we know more but, at the time no one wanted to take a chance of getting people really sick or even worse they die from it.

638 views and only 6 voted. I think it shows for the majority of people it's a non issue. Like I said they don't care if their neighbor works for a union or not.

Being that’s all a lie, and using your own logic ……..your credibility is zero…….right?

And kid, the glaring number in the poll is the number you stated…..683 views and not 1 single vote supporting the union…..why would proud members not support what they are proud of?
