PERKINSTON, MS – After being forced to take a week off due to rain, Billy Riels Racing drivers Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS and K.I. Davis of Poplarville, MS are ready for Week 3 of the 27-week Crate Racin’ USA Weekly Racing Series. Lee and Davis are prepared to race their dirt late models this Friday night and Saturday night.

The first stop will be this Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS and then on Saturday night, the first choice is to run at Outlaw Speedway in Perkinston, MS. The team will carefully watch the weather, and for that reason, Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS is the team’s “Plan B” for Saturday night.

Crate Racin’ USA Weekly Racing Series Late Model points will be tabulated on a driver’s best 14 weekly points over the 27-week season that will run through October 1. Lee, the three-time and defending CRUSA WRS Late Model National Champion and Davis, the 2022 CRUSA WRS Late Model National Championship Runner-Up competed in Week 1 action.

The best CRUSA WRS Week 1 finishes for Lee and Davis came on Friday night, March 31 at Baton Rouge Raceway in Baton Rouge, LA. Lee came home in the second spot followed by Davis in third place.

The race cars in the Billy Riels Racing stable of dirt late models are special chassis built and developed by Lee. “The General” took two different chassis makes and morphed them into the best features of the two with his own special tweaks. The final product is called the Lee Performance Chassis.
The race cars in the CRUSA WRS Late Model Division are powered by the economical 400 horsepower aluminum-head steel block Chevrolet Performance 604 Circle Track Engine that is built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications. The engines can be ordered from Chevrolet Dealers across the country.

Last season, Lee earned 644 points with seven wins, 23 top five finishes, and 25 top ten finishes in 25 races to take his third $10,000 CRUSA WRS National Late Model Championship. Lee has posted at least one win in each season since 2006, and he also owns the record for the most career wins in the series with over 100 victories.

Davis came out of a 15-year retirement from racing to join BRR in May and competed in 20 races with three wins, 15 top five finishes, 20 top ten finishes to accumulate 629 points and earned $5,000 for the runner-up spot, giving Billy Riels Racing a 2022 total of $15,000 out of the series point fund.

The 2022 Championship was Billy Riels fourth National title to go with his 2013 CRUSA WRS Late Model National Championship with Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS as his driver. This has earned Riels the moniker as the “Rick Hendrick” of the CRUSA WRS Late Model Division.
