Lee finished in the third spot and Davis came home in fifth place.

Billy Riels Racing congratulates Jeffrey Cooper of Kiln, MS for his first career win last Saturday night in the Crate Racin’ USA Weekly Racing Series Late Model Feature Race at Outlaw Speedway.

The top five efforts kept both Lee and Davis in contention for the 2023 CRUSA WRS Late Model National Championship. Lee is now second in the standings, one point out of first place, and Davis is in the fourth in the standings. Lee is looking for his third straight and fourth overall National Championship, and Davis was the National Championship runner-up in 2022.

Car Owner Billy Riels is looking for his fifth CRUSA WRS Late Model National Championship. The first one came in 2013 with Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS driving, and his three with Lee behind the wheel of his #47 came in 2019, 2021, and 2022.

Weather has played a role in the progress of the Billy Riels Racing Team. Through the years, the team has had their best success at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg Speedway on Friday nights. In the first four weeks of the 2023 season, Hattiesburg Speedway has been rained out twice. Week 2 action was a complete washout for the team.

In four races over three of the first four weeks of competition, Lee has one win, and four top five finishes. Davis has three top five finishes and four top ten finishes. The Crate Racin’ USA Weekly Racing Series Late Model season takes a driver’s best 14 weekly finishes over a 27-week period that will end on October 1.

Week 5 will give the Billy Riels Racing Team a few options. This Friday night, they will have a choice between Hattiesburg Speedway and Baton Rouge Raceway in Baton Rouge, LA. There will also be a Saturday night choice at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS. Week 5 updates will be posted on the Billy Riels Racing Facebook page.
