    Default Tri-County Race Track and Rome Speedway Kick Off May Slate for Spring Nationals Tour

    Tri-County Race Track and Rome Speedway Kick Off May Slate for Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals

    (BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Following a flurry of rain-outs during the month of April, the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series presented by Coltman Farms Racing and fueled by Sunoco will look for much better weather as the calendar flips to May. Up first will be a doubleheader on May 5-6 in the states of North Carolina and Georgia. Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, North Carolina is slated to preside over a $7,553 to win throwdown this Friday evening, while a special ‘Saturday Night Live’ program will wrap up the weekend at Rome Speedway in Rome, Georgia with a $10,053 paycheck up for grabs.

    At Tri-County Race Track on Friday, May 5, the pit gates will open at 3:30pm and the grandstands will start to allow patrons into the “Tiger Pit” starting at 4:30pm. The drivers meeting is scheduled for 6:30pm with hot laps following shortly behind at 7:00pm. Adults will be admitted into the grandstands for $25.00 and into the pit area for $40.00. Kids ages 11-16 will be allowed into the stands for only $15.00 and into the pits for only $20. As always at Tri-County, children ages 10 and under are admitted for FREE.

    The Spring Nationals tour has visited the Brasstown, North Carolina bullring on five different occasions with Casey Roberts ('13), Mike Marlar ('14), Donald McIntosh ('19), David Payne ('21), and Garrett Smith ('22) taking home the victories. Joining the ground-pounding Super Late Models on the racing card will be the 602 Late Model, Street Stock, Open Wheel Modified, Pony, and Front Wheel Drive divisions.

    On Saturday, May 6 at Rome Speedway, the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series will make their sixth stop at the “World’s Fastest 1/2-Mile Clay Track,” as previous series winners include Casey Roberts ('15), Jonathan Davenport ('16), Dale McDowell ('17), Donald McIntosh ('19), and Tyler Millwood ('21). In addition to the Super Late Models making their return to Rome, Limited Late Models ($2,000 to win), 604 Late Models ($1,500 to win), 602 Late Models ($1,200 to win), Econo ($400 to win), Stinger ($300 to win), and Open Wheel ($400 to win) are also in action.

    The pit gates will swing open at Rome on Saturday at 3:00pm, while the grandstands will open starting at 5:00pm. Hot laps will take to the racetrack at 6:30pm and racing will begin promptly at 7:00pm. Grandstand admission is $30.00 for adults, $10.00 for youth ages 9-17, and FREE for those children ages 8 and under. Admission into the tailgate area will be $35.00 for adults, $10.00 for youth ages 9-17, and FREE for children ages 8 and under. A pit pass will be $45.00 for adults, $15.00 for youth ages 6-10, and FREE for children ages 5 and under.

    Defending Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series Champion Carson Ferguson comes into the double-dip leading the point standings by only sixteen markers over Ross Bailes. Kenny Collins sits third, Haiden Cowan finds himself in the fourth position, and Caden Mullinax rounds out the top five. There have been four different winners on the tour in five races so far in 2023, as Brandon Overton (Swainsboro Raceway), Wil Herrington (Senoia Raceway), Cory Hedgec0ck (411 Motor Speedway), Joseph Joiner (Buckshot Speedway), and Brandon Overton (East Alabama Motor Speedway) have all celebrated in Schaeffer’s Oil victory lane.

    Body rules and the Droop Rule will be the same as those agreed on by both the World of Outlaws Late Model Series and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series - among others. The nightly entry fee will be $100.00 and transponders will be available to rent. Any driver not advancing into the feature field will receive $75.00 in tow money.
