Thread: LR Stack

    Default LR Stack

New to the late model stuff with stacked springs. Have lots of experience with regular springs in modifieds and some late model stuff but have some questions maybe someone can explain to me about the stacked stuff.

Rocket recommends a 12" 90lb and a 10" 200lb stack with a lock nut. What is the purpose of the lock nut? And what would adjusting the preload on each spring do? Does one effect dynamic and the other ride height? Which one should be on top witht the lock nut?

Does adjusting one or the other effect entry or exit?

    Thanks for any information.

Where the stop nut is (nut by the floater or divider plate between the 2 springs) changes whether the spring is progressive or digressive. Top nut = nut on the very top of both springs near the top of the shock bulb.

The stop nut on top of the floater makes the spring progressive and it sets the ride hieght or ride load (basically just uses the lower spring for that) and the very top nut sets the extended load.

The stop nut under the floater plate makes the spring digressive. The very top nut sets the ride hieght or load and the floater nut under the floater plate reduces/sets the extended load.

Does most guys run a digressive or progressive on thr LR? Looking at getting our deck down cause there is no droop rule. Just a static deck height rule. In our other single spring stuff we run like a 50 on the lr to get it low. Curious what your thoughts are on that.

To do that you need a lighter spring if you want to keep the same extended load your using now.

Say for example your ride load is 700# and extended is 200#, so to lower the car/Ride load you need a softer spring to reduce the 700# and keep the 200# extended. Say you soften the rate to 25# spring and adjust ride to say 600# you may end up with too much extended load or may be the same depending on what rate you change too. That is where the digressive stack comes in.

Say you swap to a 25# combo stack rate and set the ride load to 600# but the extended is now 275#. You can adjust the nut under the floater plate to cut that load down to 200#

Digressive is way way more common then progressive by a long ways.

Obviously you could just take rounds out and lower the ride load to lower the car but your gonna lower your extended load also.
