Default JD down to earth in 2023

Not winning as much. What’s up?

not having jason was bound to affect them sooner or later, will it last is the question? Eldora could be a little more interesting in a few weeks

Don't worry, once they get to the big aero tracks, tracks where the amount spent shows its affects, high dollar engineers and wind tunnel tests, Davenport will do just fine. just wait and see!

Others have caught up and even passed them on setups etc.. Losing Jason hurt more than they"ll admit. IMO messing with Nascar stuff distracted him too, but, thats just my opinion. Racing is a humble sport, you never stay on top forever.

I'd imagine next weekend at WVMS, they'll be right back on top of their game if not this weekend at the Show Me.

I'm going to toot my horn here and remind that I had Davenport inconsistent in my 2023 predictions. Jason was the steadying force on that team.

JD’s car this and last year was/is so dependent on clean air. Completely different car when not in the lead. His qualifying has been a lil off this year and results in not as many heat races starting on the front row and getting clean air and that leads to not starting up front in the feature. When the tour hits the larger tracks, I think you will hear more from JD.

If not having Jason Durham is the reason then why is Stormy Scott still a consistent 15 th place car? I’m not for or against JD but bad luck comes and goes and he’s definitely had his fair share this season. Somebody else will be jinxed before long and he’ll be back up front.

Stormy isn't the driver JD is.

    Flathead,

Stormy is no JD and I said "steadying force", I didn't say technical genius.

I can think of a few million reasons he might be a little slow to get going….once that hangover figuratively wears off he should be flying again.

It’s really hard to keep that level of success from year to year. Davenport is very familiar with that. Remember his magical 2015 with Rumley? 2016 was much quieter.

    Bayko,

2016 was the result of the whole new rule book.

That and Rumley failing to reapply the principles of his device within the new box.

Losing a guy on anyone's crew that was on the same page as the driver is going to take time to get that MOJO back. JD and team will be just fine, they may have a lackluster year in trying to figure things out but with the backing that deal has you can never count them out.

4m has a way of calling out a driver, and them winning the next race.

Is JD really that great or has he just had a run of great equipment and crews? I think he's over rated.

    For now.

He’s won in Barry Wright, won in Rockets, won in Longhorns. He’s won Crown Jewels with 3 different teams. He might be down so far this year but calling him overrated is a Stephen A. Smith level hot take.
    We'll miss ya Doc Watson...
