Just picked up a set of Sweet Ackerman gauges and started measuring our car. It’s a 2016 GRT with 2021 MB Custom spindles. We used to have a 2015 MB Custom late model but sold it. The ‘21 spindles don’t have adjustment for steering arm length on the left side but our old spindles did. The only differences between the ‘15 spindles and the ‘21 spindles are (a) new spindles are 1/2” taller and (b) the left side steering arm is non-adjustable. The Ackerman on the new spindles is quite concerning - neutral to the left and 2+” out to the right at 180 degrees. Doesn’t really matter what toe setting. Ended up putting on one of the old LF spindles with 1/2” taller lower ball joint so the RH stayed the same. Adjusted the steering arm so that toe is now neutral when turned to the right and toes out progressively (pro-ackerman) to the left. Can someone confirm that this is the right direction to go in? I would never put 2” of toe either way so the new spindles can’t be right, unless I am not understanding some specific effect MBC is trying to achieve.
