CARTERSVILLE, GA – Veteran Team Vaden driver and crew chief Don Jenkins of Kingston, GA will pilot the #42 Vaden Chevrolet Open-Wheel Modified for Mike Vaughn Racing this Saturday night at North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, GA. While Jenkins spends most of his time as the crew chief at Mike Vaughn Racing, he also takes his share of turns in the driver role.

Jenkins, 63, has prepared Mike Vaughn Racing Vaden Chevrolet Modified rides for Team Vaden drivers like former NASCAR and current SRX Series star Ken Schrader, former Georgia standout Mark Miner, Ronnie Johnson, Johnny Stokes, Justin Wakefield, Shay Knight, and Zach Pilcher. They have all driven the Vaden Chevrolet Special to victory in the past few years.

In Southeastern racing circles, Jenkins has an impressive resume with over 200 wins, four Dixie and Rome Speedway Track Championships, a Track Championship at Thunder Mountain Speedway in Fort Payne, AL, and he was the Inaugural Top Trax Champion. Jenkins, who has been racing for 45 years, is looking forward to racing at one of his favorite tracks.

“I like racing at the ¼-mile high-banked tracks like North Georgia Speedway,” Jenkins said. “There’s plenty of room to pass and that makes for a lot of side-by-side racing. Plus, you can get a pretty good fried bologna sandwich at North Georgia Speedway. It’s an honor to wrench the Vaden Chevrolet race cars, and I also enjoy getting behind the wheel and racing them too!”

The economical Chevrolet Performance 602 engine in the Mike Vaughn Racing Modified Sportsman race car came right out of the crate from Vaden Chevrolet in Savannah, GA ready for competition.
