Default Reasonable expectations for the world!

I think expecting a great race surface is a reach. Lets face it, Eldora sits dark most of the summer and its a guessing game every time they race. Lets keep it real. Poeple comment on how Port Royal or Knoxvile is always in great shape on race day. Its no mystery to a thinking person. Those tracks are raced on weekly and the track prep and owners have a constant and reliable grip on the race surface. And every week learn about how to make it better. When a track sits dark most of the year, be reasonable, How do you expect them to really know what that race surface is going to do? Eldora is too big to guess on a good race surface. If Eldora was 1/3 mile or 3/8 I think it would be much easier and more forgiving if you dont have a clue what the track is going to do.

Water, sheeps foot, sheeps foot, sheeps foot, water, sheeps foot, sheeps foot, then roll, sheeps foot, sheeps foot, then roll, sheeps foot, sheeps foot, then roll. Repeat as necessary until race track is hard as a rock. (Roller sets inside turn 1.)

I hope you weren’t expecting good heat races. Those were bad.

It's not the track..it's the downforce

Good track for the heat races, that's what everyone wanted. Whats it produce ? 1 lane fast racing. Until the track widens out and starts to slick off that's what your going to have. You have that window were cars can race side by side for a period, that's when the track is really good, but it's also were the track is becoming close to being used up to the point of were all the passing comes from someone dive bombing another car going into the corners.

If you looked at qualifying times, there had to be 50 cars timed in the 15.5 second bracket. When you have a field so even with the top 30 cars, there isn't going to be passing in 8 lap heat races on a Thursday. I really disliked the chnage from lining up the main events off finishing results nd using points. That was dumb. That alone was another reason why noone tried to pass in the heats if they had qualified top 10.

The downforce is definitely part of the problem but they need to slow the track down a ton. Nobody wants to watch everyone flatfoot it all the way around the track. Less water, it needs to be dry in the middle, little moisture on the bottom, and a curb on top. The last few times there its just been a super speedway race.
