Very interesting technical bulletin released by World Racing Group & Lucas today.

"Effective immediately, washing tires, or spraying substances of any type on tires will not be permitted within three (3) hours of the scheduled Hot Lap time on any given race day. Dipping tires into large containers (i.e. swimming pools) and chilling or heating tires (i.e. freezers, ice baths, torches, or other means of direct heat) will not be permitted at any point."

It goes on to state very harsh penalties for violating this bulletin. What is so important about 3 hours? What's going on?

Apparently the right person complained about someone heating or cooling tires. It would in theory help you qualify or start a race if you brought the tire temperature to a temperature other than ambient to either get it to come in earlier or last longer. Obviously it would be a very temporary advantage, but it could amount to something.

Still shooting at wooden ducks, per as usual. The 3hr bit is hilarious and this further demonstrates how far a field they are on anything tech related. It takes them so long to get lined up, do there stupid salute laps and ride around that unless they are in the qualifying lane with tire warmers on and snatch them off as he launches I don't see anything but wasted time and idiots too worried about what others might be doing. "OH! Thats not fair they washed those tires on tuesday and I only did mine sunday morning.."
