Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series Weekend at Sugar Creek and Dixie Washed Out

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) With the weekend forecast of wet weather failing to improve, officials from the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series, Sugar Creek Raceway, and Dixie Speedway have all decided tonight to cancel the doubleheader scheduled for May 3-4 at the Peach State venues. The $7,553 to win event at Sugar Creek Raceway in Blue Ridge, Georgia has been postponed to Friday, May 24 and will now kick off a huge Memorial Day weekend tripleheader. A suitable make-up date for the show at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia is still being explored and will be announced in the future.

“We all hoped the weather forecast would change as the week went on, but unfortunately that was not the case,” quoted series promoter and founder Ray Cook tonight. “All parties agreed tonight to finally pull the plug, so teams didn’t start heading this way and could go elsewhere to try and race this weekend. We are working hard to find a suitable make-up date at Dixie Speedway and hopefully we can announce something on that soon. The postponement of Sugar Creek to May 24 sets up a nice tripleheader weekend to close out the Spring Nationals season.”

With the rain-out of both Peach State shootouts, the next race on the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series presented by Coltman Farms Racing and fueled by Sunoco calendar will be the annual running of the ‘Beckley USA 100’ at Beckley Motor Speedway in Mount Hope, West Virginia on Saturday, May 11. Before the single-day extravaganza, which boasts a whopping $20,053 first place prize, an open practice session will be held at Beckley on Friday night, May 10. The ‘Beckley USA 100’ has a total purse of over $63,000 and each starter in the 100-lapper will receive at least $1,000.
