It is funny you brought that up because I know of several cars that used to put weight on the drivers foot bar and when the track slicked off they put 25 lbs on the right top bar and moved the foot bar weight up.
Adding the 50 lbs on the top bars in line with the heads is going to make the car roll over easier and help out on a dry slick track. So where the 602 should be gaining on the 604 the 604 would now get better. Weight is not a good item to try to equal cars out with. There will be teams that figure it out quickly and they will be even faster when compared to the others. We ran many races with our 604 50-100 lbs heavier than the cars we were running against and they were running 362 ci aluminum head alcohol motors that run around 550-600hp. When the track got slick we were WAY faster than they were and we were always top 3 in the heat races on a good track.
In short adding weight won't work. Look at ways to make the 602 faster that would be consistent. The nose wing would make them faster through the corner which will equal more straight away speed. The best part is it would work on a tacky or slick track.
