Destroking
I was thinking of destroking my crank from a stock rod journal to a 2" journal by offset grinding. Not to help the engine run better necessarily, but so I can take some weight off the car. It's a 2300 ford in a Mustang. How many cc's can be lost this way?

if u was math smart u'd no u only take off .040" off the crank pin u wouldnt see a friken diff and u wont be no faster anyway
-
Thanks for doing nothing except pissing me off. It's getting to be pretty normal on this board to get crap like this aint it. I'll figure it out somewhere else.
-
cuz u is too stupid to figger it out yer self!

Won't a 2.0 Ranger crank fit the 2300 block,or else a complete 2.0 Pinto engine?

Racedad the 2.0 ranger crank is the same as a 2.3 crank. The bore size is just smaller on the 2.0 ranger.

Yall is a bunch of dumba$$e$

My sarcasm is a pre-emptive strike to your stupidity!!

Oops you are right.I should have looked up the specs before I posted.Seems like somebody (Esslinger?)
used to sell a destroked crank for the pound per cc guys.

King's Crankshaft will cut whatever stroke you want on a billet core with rods, pistons, rings, bearing, and so forth.

With a 3.8" bore on the 2300, de-stroking .040" would decrease your total engine capacity by right at 30cc. So...... at 1#/cc, you could remove 30# from the car. Or, budget permitting, go to the extreme & pay ~$1,600 for a 2.75" ADI Esslinger de-stroker, plus rods & pistons, to reduce the engine capacity by 719cc. But I doubt you'd be able to take that much weight out of your Mustang to take full advantage of the much smaller engine size. -Dave-
