Thats great and all, but at least get his butt back to speedweeks! Not that far to go or anything. Fans miss seeing him at these events.
-
Don't look forward to RJ heading out to a possible horsepower track anytime soon. He is completely satisfied with running his spec motor program on any local dry-slick or heavily rubbered down track he can find. He has great set-ups for these tracks due to running them for years. It is much easier for him to cherry-pick $3,000-$5,000 races at will then to run with the big boys for a shot at the $10,000 grand shows. Don't believe it, then check out the latest issue of Late Model Illustrated (February 2011). Story starts on page 53.
Regarding the actual race. It was pretty much a complete joke!!!! 30+ hardly no-name car count for a poorly if even prepped track. The smart drivers were the ones who stayed home and saved their money. Unless they had an impeccable spec motor program which would have allowed them to get the pole, so they could win a choo-choo race they had absolutely little chance!
Racing in the south is better than up north, Yeah Not.

It was a day race, correct ? There is no cherry picking in racing. Racing is racing. Why are you complaining about a race. Some of us don't get to see racing for a couple more weeks or even months. Get over it.

RJ came from 6th to 1st in the crate race. It wasn't a one groove track it was a no groove track which was fair for everybody. I enjoyed watching the better drivers handle their cars on the slick track.

Don't know what you were expecting....I can't believe someone would get on here and reply with a post like this on the first race of the year at a track. Most of what's said in the first paragraph is true, everyone in this region knows what type of races RJ runs and why. I wouldn't call Ray Cook a no-name though. It was only $3000 to win, who did you think was coming that didn't show? Don't know what you were expecting for a DAY race in JANUARY, but it was actually better than alot of day races, Tony Knowels and several others mid-pack were trying to use the high line and some passes were made mid-pack. Glad I had a place to go watch a race so close to home. With several tracks having to close in this area, the only joke here is that reply to this thread.

Can't argue with this post....just wish now that i had made the trip!!

I also saw Chris Wall was there, but had motor problems. That's 2 Lucas drivers at $3000 to win day race in Jan. Atleast you got to see racing.

stupid post of the year. most day races are slick blacked over tracks. i for one was glad to see it. warm day, big crowd, and racing. what more could you ask for.

Well I enjoyed my first trip to Boyds. I can only imagine the racing at that track under the lights come March 11th for the Southern all stars race People to complain about racing already is crazy. I drove from Greenville SC too get that racing fix I needed and hear the sounds of the motors. Come join the fun this week at Screven and Golden Isles this week and support the greatest sport going today.

Tn outlaw you are a joke and u are a virus to the local racing say tracks are not prepared right and they lock down with tracks shutting down everywhere due to the economy they are doing all they can why don't you quit be a keyboard racer and appreciate the fact that there is somewhere to still race or maybe you should become a promoter and you could spend all that easy money and buy $3.50 gallon diesel fuel for all the equipment it takes to prepare a race track and then pay someone 6 days a week to run it so it would be well prepared but no you had rather pipe off at the mouth about racetracks being junk!

hey jack wagons iam a car owner in the midwest so i spend my hard earned money just like everybody else i just hate that people dont take time to prep a good track
-
It was a DAY race. How many DAY races don't become dried out ?

I am sorry I didn't know that we were in language class, and by the way it's "how you type type on here " genius!!!
-
How you type type on here ? It just shows your thought process, which is completley idiotic. You expect a DAY race to not be dry slick.

xd-4 baby !
just wanted to make sure you all noticed he's been running the new xd-4 nose kit and is killin em. everywhere
