Setup tips
Hey fellas,
I'm gonna try a couple short less than 3/8 medium banked dirt tracks in my area this year and I was wondering if any of you might have some tips.
Its a Nova and I usually run a medium banked 3/8 asphalt track LF 1000/RF 900 LR 200/RR 225 about 3/4" stagger stock shocks and the car gets around the track pretty good and it handles fairly well on the dirt tracks I'm trying to run.
Any tips out there

Swap the front springs and swap the rear springs.
Find more stagger in the rear tires.
If you have lead up front , move it to the rear.
Good luck.
-
swap the front springs, leave the rear springs alone, running left rear heavy spring on a metric is pretty much a dead way of thinking

The Novas out here in California run coil springs in the front and leaf springs in the rear.
With them numbers on a Nova, you can stomp any 4 link. Stock vs. stock.
Get some.

Swap the rear springs, little more stagger, float the RR axle and put a 8 inch or so shackle on Lr.

What do you mean by float the RR axle?

if your rules allow, check the fast boy setup in mod. thread

Alright I got the float part but how do you keep the rear-end from wrapping up in the float in the fast boys all they are using is the shock?
-
You need to stick with a conventional setup not the fastboys. It is too complicated for your level of understanding. You took on a incrediable job of running both types of tracks. You will be handicapped either place you race.
I mean no disrespect, but been there and done all that.
Good luck.

Yes the fast boys setup is over my head but if you don't ask questions and try something your never gonna learn it. All I asked was what kept the rearend from wrapping up.
And yes I do take it as disrespect.
I hope your not a teacher.

The rearend is clamped solid to the left leaf sprimg. It drives off the left side.
Yes, I get paid to teach people not to step on thier dicck. Most would call it good advice.

check the fast boys post in the openwheelmod threads,..the one posted by scooter may,...if you like toting the lf bout a foot an being throttle tight!but with tons of forward bit!!

It's not over your head, just do it. I did it to my stocker and loved it. The car will be alot tighter on exit, just change your driving style.
