Anthony Burroughs Wins Again in 2011

Rogersville, Alabama (06/01/11) – After a slow start to the season, Anthony Burroughs has turned up the wick over the past month and over the course of the Memorial Day weekend he would pilot his #121 PMC Enterprises/Barry Wright Super Late Model to his third win of the 2011 season.

It was a busy four day weekend for Burroughs Motorsports, and it opened on Friday night at Boyds Speedway (Ringgold, Georgia) with a Southern Regional Racing Series (SRRS) event. It would prove to be a frustrating night for Burroughs as he would battle the setup throughout the night before ultimately retiring early from the event to a 21st place finish.

Saturday night would prove to be a much better night for Burroughs as the action shifted to Green Valley Speedway (Glencoe, Alabama) for a $3,000 to win, SRRS event. With 25 Super Late Models entered, Anthony qualified third fastest in his group to lock into the fifth starting spot for the main event. As the race went green, Burroughs would quickly make his way to the front of the pack, and on lap 15 he would race his way to the lead, and he never looked back on his way to the win, which came over Josh Putnam, and Ronnie Johnson.

On Sunday night, the team entered a $4,000 to win, Tennessee Super Series event at Duck River Speedway (Wheel, Tennessee). Thirty-two Super Late Models were on hand for the race, and for the second straight night Burroughs would lock into the fifth starting spot for the main event. He raced his way into the second spot during the course of the race, but would be unable to challenge Ray Cook for the lead. He would settle for a second place finish at the checkered flag.

The four race weekend ended on Monday night at Tri County Speedway (Brasstown, North Carolina) with a $3,000 to win race, which was promoted by Ray Cook. Despite it being the first time that Burroughs has competed at the facility, he was able to advance from his 13th starting spot to a sixth place finish in the feature.
