Josh Richards Wins Second Straight in Night #3 of the Appalachian Mountain Speedweek Show at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex
MARKLEYSBURG, PA (June 6, 2010) – Josh Richards of Shinnston, WV captured the 40-lap, $5000 to win Super Late Model feature Monday night at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex. Richards win was his second straight of the week long Appalachian Mountain Speedweek by Century Link. Roaring Knob was race number three of seven. Morgantown, WV’s Nolan Dalton also made it two straight win in the Krause Electric FASTRAK Late Models.

Jason Covert started on the pole of the 40-lap grind and grabbed the lead at the drop of the green. Covert battled with Vic Coffey before he began to break away from the pack. Richards slipped into second on lap six and the chase was on. A caution on lap eight closed the gap. Richards stayed glued to Covert’s bumper as the race went back to green. Lap after lap Covert held the advantage over, the 2010 World of Outlaws Champion, Josh Richards.

As the field was coming around for the half-way sign, Richards slid his Ernie Davis owned Rocket past Covert to take the lead. Once out front Richards had no real challenges. Two more cautions would slow the event but each time Richards was up to the task and came home with his second straight Appalachian Mountain Speedweek checker. He also won the night before at Winchester Speedway in Virginia.

Following Richards across the finish line was Jason Covert, Vic Coffey, Jamie Lathroum and WoO point leader Rick Eckert. Sixth through tenth were Jared Hawkins (from 20th), Jeremy Miller, Keith Jackson, Nick (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)son and Austin Hubbard, who also set fast time for the night.

Four heats and two B-mains were run to set the field. Taking the heat wins were Jeremy Miller, Jamie Lathroum and Josh Richards. DJ Myers and Chad McClellan scored the B-Mains wins.

In the companion 30-lap Krause Electric FASTRAK Late Model feature Nolan Dalton out raced fellow front row starter Chris Angelicchio into the first turn and never looked back. Angelicchio, making his first start of the season, hung onto second until he spun out on lap six. Mike Lewis then pursued Dalton until he spun on lap 20. Next it was Dan Angelicchio’s turn in the bridesmaid seat. Dan gave it all he could but it was not enough to challenge Dalton, who won his second straight feature at Roaring Knob. Behind Dalton and Dan Angelicchio were Shawn Jett (from 12th), George Kowatic (from 10th) and Troy Shields. Bobby Cossell came back from a lap two spin to earn sixth over Kyle Thomas, Rick Strickler, Stanley Spooner and John Watson. Josh Holtgraver, Dan Angelicchio and Kyle Thomas won the heats.

Roaring Knob returns to action this Saturday, June 11 with a six division show featuring the American Racer Tire Super Late Models, Krause Electric FASTRAK Late Models, Modifieds, TC Race Car Parts Street Stocks, Ft. Necessity Garage Chargers and FWD 4-Cylinder Roadrunners. Their will also be Kid’s Bike Races.
